3. Check the manual to determine the proper length of line to wind around the spool. Most models recommend a specific length that varies between 16 and 26 feet. Weed Eater sells preloaded spools of trimmer string for models that accept them.
Usually, this is anywhere between 10 and 25 inches. If you`re unsure of the exact length, opt for a longer piece of nylon cord – it can always be trimmed later on.
You need to leave about six inches of string hanging from the spool when you are done adding your new string. You should use a heavy-duty pair of scissors to snip the string.
Light: 0.065- to 0.080-inch line is best for trimming grass around the house and whacking down common lawn weeds from around driveways, walkways and fences. Medium: 0.080 to 0.110-inch line is best for homes with larger lawns, or gardens overgrown with weeds that have tough, heavy stems. Heavy: 0.110-inch and above.
0.065 inches: Suitable for light-duty tasks such as trimming around flower beds or edging along walkways. 0.080 inches: Good for medium-duty tasks such as trimming around trees or bushes. 0.095 inches: Ideal for heavier-duty tasks such as cutting through thick weeds and tall grass in larger yards.

With fewer moving parts, 2-stroke string trimmers are dependable tools. They weigh little and vibrate less than 4-stroke trimmers, which reduces operator fatigue and makes for a better trimming experience. They also require less maintenance.
String trimmers are used to trim the grass in tight spots that a lawn mower can`t reach, like along a fence, under decks, or near delicate plants and shrubs. On the other hand, lawn edgers are used to clean up borders along sidewalks and driveways.
In addition to cutting tall grass in hard-to-reach spots, your string trimmer can also function as an edger to give your yard a professionally landscaped look. Edging creates a crisp line, free from grass and weeds, along the edge of a patio or walkway.
40 Length Settings

The revolutionary trimmer is designed for a one pass trim from any angle, with 40 length setting (0.5 mm to 20 mm) trim your beard with exact length you desire.

Every string trimmer is going to feature a cutting width expressed in inches, usually between 12 and 14 inches on average. This number refers to the space in which the trimmer can properly cut down grass without you having to move the unit at all.
095″ / 2.4mm.
The most important factor to take into account when choosing weed eater string is its shape. If you`re simply looking for a good all-around option for trimming grass and small weeds, go with a round string, as it`s more durable, and less likely to break if it comes in contact with fencing or other landscaping elements.
Here`s why, over feeding the string will waste a lot of string, if you keep tapping, it keeps coming out, and getting cut by the blade on your trimmer head. You could literally run out of string by just feeding more string too often. Practice feeding, only when you need it.

ANSWER : Hi..my name is Keith..and most times..when your problem happens..either the deck is bent down from runing into something or stepping on it..or the deck hanger is bent, worn or out of adjustment..or the blade on that side is bent..and i hope this will help..if not..please write back

My 42 inch Toro seems to be cutting unevenly. The blades seem to be on correctly and I hope I haven’t hit something to set the angle wrong
ANSWER : First thing to check is that the deck is level by the adjustments on wheels. Then check the bearings in the spindle housings and there is no play in the shaft when you try to move blade up and down. You then can measure from the blade tip bottom of deck on both sides (3 o’clock and 9 o’clock, and then 12 o’clock and 6’o clock They should all be the same. If not then either the shaft is bent, or the deck is bent slightly causing the blade not being parallel to the deck. If you have someone rotate the shaft you should be able to tell if the shaft is bent or not. If the deck is bent, then you will have to straighten it out till the spindle shaft is perpendicular to deck.
