I have the owner’s manual. Several years ago I replaced the clutch lining, but I can’t remember how I did it. I also replaced the cables at the same time. A recent attempt to replace the reverse cable has not worked. Now the tiller will not go forward or reverse.

Pull up the levers under the handles.

On a tiller with the tines in front, the forward motion is controlled by you. To prevent the tiller from moving forward when the tines are engaged, you`ll have to pull back on the handles while pushing down to lift the tines out of the soil and hold the machine in place.

What is a Tiller? Put simply, a garden tiller is designed to break up hard, compact soil into loose, broken-up dirt that can then be used for planting.
Adjusting the depth bar properly

In looser soil, it controls how deeply the tines can dig into the ground. In general the depth bar should be adjusted so the tiller is tilted slightly backwards. Raise the depth bar to dig deeper into the soil. Lower the depth bar when to till in shallow areas.

Alternatively you can till hard ground with a rotary tiller, which is especially useful for medium-large plots. Use a rotary tiller of suitable weight so that it is stable and the blades penetrate deep into the soil.
It`s not a good idea to use a tiller immediately before planting. This is because tilling introduces many air pockets into the soil which can result in less than ideal seed germination.
Before You Till

Avoid tilling in wet soil as soil compaction can occur and lead to poor root penetration in the growing season. If it rains, it`s best to wait a few days to allow soil to become semi-dry.

For most jobs, a tiller depth between four and six inches will prove ideal, as you won`t encounter tree roots or rocks which can damage your rototiller. Once you have prepared the correct settings, it`s time to till the area. If the soil is compact and hard, start tilling with the shallowest setting.
Consequently, a tiller with reverse rotating tines requires a bit more horsepower to get the job done. But the reverse action makes tilling into harder surfaces easier. Aside from that, attaching and operating these two machines are exactly the same.
Clayey soils are difficult to compact because at moisture contents sufficient to allow the clay particles to move past each other, the pore space is typically filled with water, which cannot be squeezed out easily.
Add organic matter such as compost, peat moss or leaf mold when loosening the soil.
Start with compost, add a thick layer of cardboard, and layer wood chips on top. You can then leave this to break down for a season, or add compost, manure, or soil on top to build beds right on top of the ground.
A powered tiller or cultivator will make removing grass or sod easier. While purchasing power equipment will add to your total cost, choosing the right tool may save you time and labor.

Need to replace fuel lines on my Troy Bilt gas hedge trimmer. Where can I get replacement fuel lines… or better yet… what size are the lines and where can I buy a few feet of the lines. Note: I have reviewed the parts assembly and it would seem to indicate I have to replace the entire handle assembly (Part #1) instead of just buying replacement hose(s). Any help to resolve my issue would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance
ANSWER : Replacement fuel lines should be readily available at your local lawnmower repair shop. Your TroyBilt hedger uses fuel line that is 3/32″ (2.4mm) interior dimension, 3/16″ (4.8mm) outside dimension, with a 3/64″ (1.2mm) wall dimension.
Most manufacturers don’t offer replacement line, only fuel tank assemblies. Find your local shop, and try to get the TYGON brand…it is yellow. Tygon lasts the longest. You should be able to buy it by the foot for less than $2 per foot. You will need 2 feet of hose to replace both lines.

Make sure to clean the in-tank filter when replacing hoses.

Good luck.
