Ive found that a pair of optometrist’s eyeglass pliers goes miles to getting these tiny hoses on , these pliers have blunt round jaws and don’t meet all the way closed so it wont crush the tube
How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

The operation of the primer bulb is quite simple. When the filled bulb is squeezed, the pressure closes the inlet valve and opens the outlet valve which then sends the fuel supply to the engine.
The (clear) fuel intake line runs from the top of the carburetor (straight nipple) and goes to the short post on the back of the primer bulb. The return line (blue) comes from the long post on the back of the primer bulb and goes into the bottom of the fuel tank.
One is the high pressure line, which sends fuel to the injectors. The other is the return line, which dumps fuel that the injectors don`t use back into the tank.
Most vehicles have rubber fuel hoses connecting the fuel pipes on the chassis to the fuel pump or carburetor on the engine. Rubber hoses are flexible and can be cut to length as required, but they have a tendency to perish over time and can rub through if not properly secured.

Have a craftsman 16″ chain saw 358.360260. Could not initially get it started after it had sat for a couple years with fuel stabilizer in it. When I went to use it the fuel had all evaporated and the fuel pick line was rotted. I replaced that with some difficulty but finally got it on. Saw still wouldn’t start. Replaced the fuel filter. Still wouldn’t start. Pulled the carb apart and cleaned and recleaned everything. Diaphragms were good and I didn’t adjust any of the mixture screws because as I said it ran fine before storage. Non of the carb passages were clogged. Fresh gas 40:1, good spark plug and good spark. Airfilter is good. Engine has maybe about 4 hours of total run time on it. It’s a ZAMA (?) carb. It will run for about 30 seconds when I manually prime it by pouring a small amount of fuel directly though the carb. When I was disassembling the carb the vent hose that goes back into the fuel tank seemed to have a small out of ?substance? in it which I cleaned out. It was right at the end the of the hose that goes back into the fuel tank and not up by the carb. It didn’t appear to be like your typical gummy deposits/varnish though. I hope it wasn?t some type of spongy check valve stuff that is supposed to be in there. That might explain some of my problems. Anyway, I also can not seem to get the primer bulb to fill. When I open the fuel tank, look in side and depress the primer bulb, air bubbles come out of the fuel filter. But when I let the bulb reexpand there’s no fuel that gets sucked up the hose. I can however seem to fill the primer bulb when the fuel tank is full and the chainsaw is laying on it?s pull cord side and the bulb is depressed a bunch of times. The saw will also start and run again for about 15 seconds then die. It’s definitely not getting/fuel and probably running out . Thanks.
Which fuel line “port/inlet” on the Walbro wt-380 goes to the fuel tank? It’s on a Craftsman 25cc Gas “Weed Wacker” Line Trimmer purchased in 2002. It has Walbro WT-380 carburetor with external primer bulb. The carb has two inlets for attaching fuel lines – one to gas tank, one to primer bulb. One inlet is on diaphragm side of carb (side with the two Low/High speed adjustment screws). Other inlet is on “reservoir?” side (side with air/fuel mixture screw). Which inlet gets the “fuel tank line”? (Other will obviously go to primer bulb. I found all kinds of diagrams on web but none that showed this. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. (Problem occurs when replacing gas lines and forget which line goes where:)
ANSWER : Usually the line with the filter on it that comes from the tank goes to carb. inlet first which is most likely close to the bottom side of the carb.nearest to the engine, then the outlet or return line on the carb.goes to the inlet side of the primer and the outlet side of the primer goes back to the tank. The primer draws fuel through the carb to the primer to the tank if its not? then correct the line connections until it does
Replaced primer bulb and all fuel lines still getting air in lines. ran pretty good for about 10 minutes now will start with choke but dies in a few seconds. Cannot rev. up. cleaned under both plates but did not replace any gaskets on carb. After turning carb on its side it quit sucking air into primer bulb but same results. Not positive of routing of fuel lines they broke off before I could see how they were run.
ANSWER : The primer bulb pulls fuel from bottom of fuel tank, when bulb is full it will return fuel back into tank, the hose entering bulb runs in the tank to bottom with filter on the end,the return hose stops just as it enters the tank maybe 3/4″,make sure the hoses entering tank are tight fit or they will pull air in and leak.the carb may also need rebuild/clean,there is a screen inside of carb that may be stopped up which will need to be replaced.(carb kit).
Poulan te 450 cxl fuel lines need routed correctly two line both in tank one to fuel filter other line?
ANSWER : Other line is just left open like to send gas back from the carb.
Gas lines crumbled and don’t know how to route new lines correctly
ANSWER : The small diameter line out of fuel tank (has filter in-tank on end) connects directly to the side of the carburetor that has the fuel pump….that is the cover without the hole in it. Other larger diameter fuel line out of tank connects to the longer nipple on the external purge/primer bulb. The bulb “pulls” fresh fuel from the fuel tank to the carb and then out of the carb to itself, where it then “pushes” any air/old fuel back into the fuel tank. The remaining larger diameter fuel line in this setup goes from the metering chamber (has cover with writing on it and a vent-hole) side of the carburetor to the smaller nipple on the purge/primer bulb. Again, on the primer bulb, the longer nipple has a line going directly from it to the tank. This is the return line. The shorter nipple on the bub has a line from it going to the metering chamber side of the carb. If the purge/primer bulb is on top of the carb…small line from carb body to small hole in tank with filter. Larger diameter line goes from the bulb on the fuel pump side of the carb to the larger hole in the fuel tank where sometimes the line is held in place with a nylon nipple connector that keeps the line from pulling out of the tank. Otherwise, the line should enter the tank for about 1/2″ or so.
Replaceing fuel line in polan 3300 chain saw – Poulan Pro 42CC 2 Cycle Chainsaw, 18"
ANSWER : Hi owjbhend…
Use a piece of wire and insert it into the fuel line, then bend a hook in the end and hook it over the end of the fuel line…lubricate the fuel line with some vaseoline very lightly…about the first one inch of the fuel line and then use your fingers to start the fuel line into the tank, once you have the fuel line in the tank give enough to hook the fuel filter to and so it can be dropped back into the tank.
Below is a drawing of how to route the fuel lines.

Need diagram for fuel line in tank fuel filter
ANSWER : The small diameter fuel line that has the fuel filter in the tank on it goes directly to the carburetor (with the built-in primer or externally mounted primer). IF the carb has the external primer, the small line goes to the nipple on the carburetor opposite the end with the hole in the cover. If it has the built-in primer on it, it goes to the carb body on the nipple furthest from the bulb. The large diameter line is the fuel return line and if the carb has the bulb on it, this line connects on the nipple closest to primer bulb.. With the externally mounted primer, this line connects on the longest nipple coming out of the primer and goes to the fuel tank (not the filter though). There is a nylon connector inside the tank that holds this larger line in place. The shorter nipple on primer bulb has a smaller diameter fuel line connected to it and connects to the nipple on the carb closest to the end with the hole in the cover. Built in primer has 2 fuel lines…externally mounted has 3.
Is there a video showing how to install fuel line into the gas/oil tank?
ANSWER : I probably can explain this to where you won’t need a video.
Remove the old lines noted which is the pickup, which is the return, and the routing. If unfamiliar with line replacement I recommend removing and replacing one line at a time; Also taking pictures if needed helps.
Get a length of tag wire. ( Long enough to pass through the line holes and out the filler opening).
Insert the tag wire through one of the fuel lone holes and out the filler opening.
Cut a taper on the replacement line and insert the tag wire through the tapered section and twist to tie it on the fuel line.
Image of wire/line attachment below.
Now gently pull the new into the tank and out fuel line hole.
The procedure is the same for the other line.
Note: For fuel pickup attach your fuel filter. On return line some have a fitting on the end to prevent it pull out so install the fitting if one is used. Also cut line the line to length adding a little extra for the taper section as needs removing so the line line can be attached.
