Loose, Dirty or Disconnected Spark Plug in Your Lawn Mower: Check it out, clean off debris, re-connect and tighten. Dirty Air Filter: Clean or replace. Fuel Not Reaching the Engine: Tap the side of the carburetor to help the flow of gas. If this doesn`t work, you might need a new fuel filter.
Use Carburetor Cleaner Fortunately, you can generally do this without even taking the carburetor out of the engine. Start by purchasing some commercial lawnmower carburetor cleanerOpens a new window, which comes in a simple spray can and will make it easy to clean the inside and outside of the carb.
A clogged carburetor is most commonly caused by leaving fuel in the lawn mower for a long period of time. Over time, some of the ingredients in the fuel may evaporate, leaving behind a thicker, stickier substance. This sticky fuel can clog up the carburetor and cause the engine to stall.
Replace dirty or clogged fuel filter. Replace old gas with fresh gas (properly dispose of old gas). Check oil level and add if low. Adjust cutting height of mower before cutting tall grass.
An airlock is one of the common causes why your mower won`t start after running out of fuel. An Airlock occurs when air replaces fuel in the fuel lines. As you refill your fuel tank, you could push the air towards your mower`s carburetor, which keeps the new fuel from reaching the engine.
Get your can and spray the liquid on the carburettor. Make sure you don`t go overboard with spraying the liquid as it may end up harming the device. Rest assured that WD-40 is potent enough to work its magic even if it is sprayed decently on the carburettor.
Use carburetor cleaner to remove deposits, clogs & debris Luckily, you can take care of many of these problems quickly and easily; often without even removing the carburetor from the engine.
A slow-moving Honda mower is commonly caused by a slack drive cable. Adjusting the tension will fix it. Other possible causes include: Drive belt loose.
Check – Slip the gauge blade between the rocker arm and valve tip. Move the gauge forward and back and feel the resistance. If you feel a nice amount of resistance, meaning, the gauge is snug but does move when you push on it – Your good, no need to adjust this valve. If you don`t feel any resistance, start adjusting.

My Honda 2600 psi power washer will not pull to start. It was running great then I allowed the neighbor to borrow it. He ran the washer till it was out of gas and proceeded to refuel and at this point it would no longer start. The pull cord is out about 4-6 inches out and I am concerned about taking the casing off myself.
Fearing that it may throw more off on the unit. If i take the casing off are there any spring loaded parts that will dismount?
What should I do? Spark Plug? Turn wrenches?
Please let me know
ANSWER : You should be fine to take the recoil off, there shouldn’t be anything that shoots out at you. You might want to check the oil level on the engine, many of the Honda engines won’t start unless there is enough oil in them. If your oil level is fine, check to make sure that your motor is getting spark.

ANSWER : Generally this indicates a “lean” condition in the carburetor and there are no adjustments. Depending on your abilities, the best fix is to remove the carburetor and clean all the metering passages/jets. In some cases you are better off just replacing the carburetor. ANSWER : Too long to print here. Go to the zama web sit and they give you a wonderful procedure for adjusting a zama carburetor. Especially important after you have taken it apart and installed a new carb kit. And even if you get a new carb the initial settings are so called defaults and you should really fine tune the carb for your specific motor.
Mower start up and runs, but starts to cut back, and smokes just a little bit. The mower stops smoking when it throttle up. It will continue to run but not at full throttle. I can hold a finger gently over the fuel primer bulb and it will throttle up for a small time.
ANSWER : It sounds like she’s being deprived of the correct fuel / air mixture due to a dirty carburetor (the biggest problem with mowers when gas is left to sit for a period of time). If you do not know how to take the carburetor apart and clean it thoroughly, then I suggest taking it to the local shop (hardware store or mower shop) and having it tuned up. It’ll probably be just fine and worth the money. Hope this helps and good luck.James
