How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

The gap between the spark plug`s center electrode and outer electrode should be set at 0.02 inch, or 0.5 millimeter, for most Husqvarna trimmer models.
1 Remove the cap on the trimmer. 2 Take out the spool. 3 Remove the previous string. 4 Insert the new wire into the spool.
Husqvarna trimmer line works with both gas and cordless trimmers requiring a 0.095-inch trimmer line.
The gap setting is different for each vehicle but most are somewhere between 0.028″ and . 060″. Consult the owner`s manual or Champion ® catalog to find the recommended setting for the vehicle you`re working on.
A: This spark plug should have a gap set to 0.02 inches.
Generally speaking, a string trimmer uses a monofilament line to cut through grass, weeds… whatever. By spinning that line at a high speed, the cutting head generates enough centrifugal force to hold the line out at a stiff, horizontal angle. This lets it cut through most grasses quite easily.
In case you were not aware, the string on your lawn trimmer breaks down as you use it. The string will cut down weeds and grass, and it breaks just a little bit every time it strikes something on the lawn. If you hit a rock or sprinkler head, the string may break off a large piece.
What is the Difference? Lawn edgers are designed to cut edges and create boundary lines, whereas a string trimmer is designed to maintain those boundary lines. They make a great team! Both can help your lawn to look sharper.
Line trimmers can only handle a specific range of line sizes (diameter) and it is important to get the right one for your machine. The wrong size of line will invariably slow you down. If you go too thick (i.e. heavy) it will not auto-feed in a bump head and it could cause damage to the machine in extreme cases.

Husqvarna 240 want start at all – Husqvarna Chain Saw 18" 450 Model 966955438
ANSWER : Sounds like the ignition module or spark plug. The ignition module is what controls the spark plug that gives your saw the firing capabilities. Before you purchase one of those, replace the spark plug and see if that works. The 240 is a newer husqvarna; so I am skeptical to say it is the ignition module. However, any new product can have a bad part on it. Your saw may have gotten flooded and won’t start. Make sure your gas mixture is 50/50 gas to mixing oil. Always use fresh gas. If you make up gas and don’t use a whole gallon at a time, put some fuel stabilizer in the mixture; so it will still be fresh the next time you use it.

ANSWER : Hi akabigtruck..

Sounds as if you have trash/debris in your carburetor…
Check your fuel filter if you have one, normally they are located in the fuel tank. Also make sure you are using fresh fuel…and oil mix if your using a two cycle mower or weedeater with the oil to the right mixture and not too much oil as it can cause hard starting. If the mower/weedeater is over a year old, then I recommend that you buy and install a new carburetor repair kit, because the diaphragm will get hard and that will cause it to be hard to crank.Sounds like you will need to clean the carburetor or replace your carburetor internal rubber parts like the diaphgram and O rings.Be sure to use compressed air to blow out all the fuel and air passages.Be careful when blowing out the passages, because there are sometimes small rubber type seats in the bottom of some of the passages.Sometimes you can get by with priming the carburetor or using starting fluid and letting it run a few times like that and it will flush the gunk out of the jets, but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.Keep in mind that the float for the carburetor must be level when you go to reassemble the carburetor or follow the instrucitons you get with the carburetor kit. When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, you will first need to lightly seat the jet screws. But before you lightly seat the jet screws count the number of turns it takes to seat the jet screws from their original position.Be sure to mark the turns down on a piece of paper. That way when you put the jets back in, you know to lightly seat them first and then turn them back out to their orginal position before you started.
