The rubber cap on the spark plug can be pulled off the HT lead. Should this be the case? The chainsaw still works if I push the lead back into the rubber cap. If the lead has broken off the spring inside the rubber cap, how do I replace the whole HT lead including the spark plug cap?

STIHL recommends that you do not run your engine at wide open throttle without a load. A blower is under a load at all times, a trimmer is under a load as long as the trimmer head is in place and the line is to the correct length, while a chainsaw is under a load when the bar and chain are in a cut.
With the choke in the “off” position, pull the engine`s crank cord through again. The engine should start in 1 to 3 pulls. Try it first without using the throttle control—unless recommended by the manufacturer.

A properly-tensioned chainsaw chain should still be just a little loose on the chainsaw guide bar, but the chain needs to be tight enough that you can`t pull the drive links out of the bar nose.
When engaged, the chain brake stops the chain from rotating around the saw`s guide bar. When using a chainsaw, you should always start it with the chain brake engaged so the chain does not move.
PULL, PUSH and KICKBACK are terms for the direction a reaction takes. PULL – When you are cutting on top of a log with the lower portion of the chain moving toward you, the chain saw will be pulled into the wood and away from you. PUSH – Cutting on the underside of a log pushes the chain saw toward you.
If you`ve used the correct procedure to start your Stihl trimmer and it does not start, the problem is likely related to either the spark, the fuel or the air circulation in the combustion chamber. More often than not, it`s an easy fix, possibly involving replacement of a spark plug or air filter.
If your chainsaw does not start, the fuel may be too hot. To prevent this from happening, always use fresh fuel and reduce your operating time when the weather is warm. If your chainsaw will not start, place it in a cool area away from sunlight for at least 20 minutes.
