Spray liberally with carb cleaner – trying to direct the cleaner into the jets – and leave to soak for a few minutes. Use an air line (or a can of pressurised air, sold as an `air duster`) to blow through the jets. Repeat the previous step and this one until you can see no more gunge.

Use Carburetor Cleaner

Fortunately, you can generally do this without even taking the carburetor out of the engine. Start by purchasing some commercial lawnmower carburetor cleanerOpens a new window, which comes in a simple spray can and will make it easy to clean the inside and outside of the carb.

WD-40 allows you to clean your generator carburettor within a few minutes without spending additional time and effort. The potent liquid uses a solvent formula for breaking away carbon contaminants within the carburettor, providing you with a clean and healthy machine in no time.

Sport & Utility Basics. The Polaris Scrambler was introduced to bridge the gap between pure sport ATVs and utility models by offering some of the benefits of both. Originally equipped as a 400cc two-stroke, today the Scrambler 500 4×4 gets down the trail with a time tested, tried and true, 500cc four stroke engine.
The carburetor sits atop the engine block beneath the air filter, and operates using a combination of vacuum power and cable control. The carburetor is attached to the throttle cable, which is attached to the gas pedal.
It`s like a “VIN” for your carburetor and should be hand-stamped on the front of the choke tower to the right of the vent tube on most typical Holley carbs. The list number typically is four to six digits long and may or may not have a suffix number behind it. The date code will be right below it.
If there is dirt or debris in the fuel bowl, it can block the needle valve and prevent it from closing. When this happens, fuel overflows into the carburetor. This causes fuel to flow out of the bowl vents, throws off the air-to-fuel ratio and gets the spark plugs wet.
However, it`s important to use a non-corrosive cleaner which doesn`t harm or degrade any plastic or rubber pieces on the carburetor. You should avoid using vinegar, because the acetic acid makes metal susceptible to rust.
Boil clean. Soaking is a great way to clean carbs, and a lot of the time this is sped up by boiling them. Many people will simply use vinegar or even lemon water to boil clean their carbs.

With engine running:

Spray down and around the carburetor throat to remove deposits from the throttle plate area. Do not spray down carburetor throat with engine off. Do not spray below throttle plate.

Does not do back and forth
ANSWER : The unit does not actually go backwards, it has a backup valve in line that will tow it out of corners, stajrs or loveseats that it may get hung up in. Thisis a small football shaped thing about eighteen inches from the wall in the hose. If yours dosen’t have one and you think it need’s one. (Did not come with all models) One can be added between the wall hose and the first floating hose. This can be done by your store if you bring the hose into them.

Impeller does not spin freely
ANSWER : Pop off the half dollar sized cap at the back of the motor and use an adjustable wrench to hold the back of the shaft. They make a tool for this but with a little innovation an adjustable will do the job fine. When puting the impeller back don’t tighten it more than hand tight and don’t bump the motor on to seat it, this will overtighten it. You may have crossthreaded the impeller and will need to tap it out or replace it.

How do I remove the Inlet and Outlet PVC pipes attached to the Volute? They may be sealed with a sealant or glue and am not sure if I need to remove the Volute bolts first.
ANSWER : You just have to cut the pipes in a place where you can glue them back together with a coupeling. If you overheated the pump though you may have warped the pipes and will need to go back far enough to get to good pipe and replace it all the way up to the pump. They just screw into the pump and you can seal the new ones with silicone or teflon stick or tape. Don’t use pipe dope as it is not good for plastic.
