Lawn Mower Engine Deck Engagement Cable can help you to control your engine zone. Authentic OEM sourced replacement part used on lawn mowers. This cable assembly consists of a metal wire cable with z-type bent ends, rubberized cover/body and a plastic clip. Application: MTD Troy Bilt Super Bronco on 600 Series.
Local codes typically require conduit protection for exterior wiring if the wiring is installed above ground. If you are burying the wiring, most codes allow for underground fed cables, but some will require the use of a conduit. Buried or exposed wiring will need to be listed for its application.

The mower deck clutch cable broke so blades will not engage and lever is loose on my Sears Craftsman 42-inch lawn tractor (917-271-742). I fished out the top piece of the cable, about 12 inches down to a rusty point where it broke. If I get the clutch kit (175067), which includes the cable, spring, etc., can I replace it from the top, or do I need a lift to get to the mover deck from the bottom? I do not have a lift or ramp that would work. What would I need to remove to get to the location where the cable/spring assembly hooks up to engage the blades?
ANSWER : I just got the kit 175067. Have the old one off except for where it’s attached to the lever, schedule and weather has kept me from going further. Very simple to reconnect things at the pulley and above but not too sure how to connect the rest onto the lever and haven’t had a chance to get a good look at how the old one might be connected yet. Should be a simple fix.

Replaceing mower deck belt on 20 hp 42 mower model no 917275660. Got the belt on. How do I get the cluch spring back on.
ANSWER : Are you refering to the spring attached to the end of the cable that runs up to the lever on the dash to engage the blades? All you needed to disconnect was that cable on top of the idler arm that’s held in place by a ‘hairpin’ and the left pulley cover to put the belt on.

The cable to activate the blades appears to be frozen. How do I free it or replace it?
ANSWER : Try to spray some WD-40 between the cable and sleeve. Then use some small pliers to gently wiggle the cable, then try to engage the blades again. If this does not work try it 2 or 3 times. Also make sure the belt is tight and that the cable is not broken or frayed, and that there is no debris on top of your cutting deck or trapped in the lever you engage the blades. If you have to replace it.The front end of the cable is pretty easy and relatively exposed. You can remove it with a pair of pliers,be careful not to stretch any springs attached to the cable. The rear end of the cable is a bit difficult to get too and will take some time, but it is not hard to replace.

Had the Northstar 3000 psi Pressure Washer for 2 months and it started leaking oil from the pump during use. Took it to Northern and they are replacing the pump under warranty but said it was likely because I was using quick connects on my garden hose coupling and that was restricting the water flow making the pump overheat. They said never to use quick connects on the garden hose unless the opening is at least 5/8″. Does anyone make such a quick connect? I hate having to screw the garden hose on every time, and also having to remove my quick connects at the water spigot end. Thanks.
ANSWER : It is easy to check if your hose and quick connects are supplying enough water to the pump. Your pressure washer gallon per minuite requirements are printed on the machine and also on the pressure tips in GPM. Your post indicates 2.5 gpm but check your documentation of GPM. Next remove the tip from the wand and connect your hose with current quick connects to the machine. Start engine and direct the pressure wand into a bucket for exactly one minute. Measure the amount of water in the bucket, it should be very close to stated gallons. Do the same test with tip installed and compare measurement. If pump is starving for water you will not get proper amount of water in the bucket and the water hose will collapse. Two to four gallons of water per minute is not very demanding and should be delivered even with very small opening. You can even just direct the hose into the bucket for one minute and check how much water your hose is capable of delivering. I believe that you will find no problem with water delivery to pump. I would certainly enlighten Northern with your findings and question their evaluation. When you start using your pressure washer again try using it at lowest pressure to get the job done. Lowering the pressure to about 75% of max will increase the life of the pump and engine. Good luck with you pump
