Rectangular pick-up baler
It is powered from the power take-off (PTO) of the hauling tractor. The straw windrow is lifted from the ground by a pick-up reel having spring teeth (14) and transferred continuously to a conveying and feeding mechanism (3) as the baler moves forward along the windrow.
Both have 75-inch SuperSweep™ pickups, Class 6 heavy-duty drivelines to push more power into bale formation and plungers that moves at 93 strokes per minute to densely pack the crop. The rotary feeding system is also standard.
Most standard square balers on the market require 35 horsepower at your tractor`s PTO, and a minimum tractor weight of around 3000 pounds. That means that they cannot be run with today`s compact tractors.
On average a vertical baler has 8,000 – 12,000 lbs force. A compactor 25,000 – 60,000 lbs force. And a horizontal baler 50,000 – 350,000 lbs.
The baler should be run at 540 RPM at the PTO and not any slower. Your tractor`s engine speed is not the same as your PTO speed, but it is directly linked to it. Consult your tractor`s manual if you are unsure how to achieve 540 RPM at the PTO.
We estimate a “lifetime” as 15 years. However, it is quite common for well-maintained balers of good production quality to have a longer lifespan than 15 years.

PTO horsepower requirements for round balers start at 30 hp and can run up to 120 hp. There are a couple of different options when it comes to bale size in balers. Balers can be fixed chambered, variable chambered, or a combination thereof.
