Porter Cable
I have a Porter cable pressure washer powered by kohler that for some reason is making the water come out of the wand warm. What could be causing this?
Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
This sounds like a heat transfer problemYou should check that the oil reservoir for the pump has oil in it. It sounds like it may be low. Also, if it is a gas model, the engine oil may be low. Remember the pump oil reservoir should be only 1/3 to 1/2 full of non-detergent oil.
How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?
We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
Hot water builds up when the spray gun is unused for more than 5 minutes while the pump is running. The unloader valve recirculates water back to the pump inlet to control the pressure and temperature. If the water gets too hot, the thermal relief valve opens to relieve the pressure by dumping hot water on the ground.
Can you use hot water in a cold-water pressure washer? One can run warm water through a cold water pressure washer safely up to 150 degrees Fahrenheit – 65 degrees Fahrenheit. You cannot run hot water, especially at extremely high temperatures, through your cold-water unit.
Cold water pressure washers use, you guessed it, cold water. They are typically used for jobs that do not require hot water, such as cleaning hard surfaces or removing dirt and grime. Cold water pressure washers are also better for surfaces that can warp with heat, such as wood decks.
If your washing machine water won`t shut off, there are a few possible causes: A damaged water inlet valve. A broken water level switch. A problem with the pressure hose or air dome tube.
Your hot water heater has a shut off valve that can become partially closed. Good news about this issue is that it`s a very simple fix—twist the valve back to its fully open position and your hot pressure should come roaring back.
Like the dishes in your sink, hot water “melts” grease and grime; cold water only pushes it around. On the other hand, if you`re simply blasting away sand, caked-on mud, or even stripping paint, a cold water pressure washer will work just fine.
In summary, the choice really depends on what you`re cleaning. For general dirt or cleaning a large area, a cold-water pressure washer will more than satisfy your needs. However, to remove more stubborn substances such as oil and grease, or for a sterile clean, a hot water pressure washer is the right fit for you.
This can happen if the machine is not used regularly or if it is not properly cleaned after each use. Improper usage: If the machine is used improperly, it can also cause it to overheat. For example, if the machine is used for too long or if the water pressure is too high, it can cause the machine to overheat.
Yes. Pressure relief valves can be reset and VR stamped with full inspection by an authorized valve repair company. Some repairs may be necessary before the valve can be reset. For example, the valve may need a spring change.
Sounds like a stuck hot water solenoid (stuck open) or a bad timer mechanism (its a giant multipole rotary switch driven by a timer.
Reasons for washing machine not supplying cold and hot water: Hoses are kinked or the faucets are not fully open. Water pressure is not adequate. The mesh filter has sediment or is not clean.
Check the water valve screen for a clog. One half of the water valve assembly can fail and only hot or cold water will come into the washer. Select the cold or hot temperature and if one or the other does not work the valve screen may be clogged.

No pressure Pump reassembly. I purchased a new pump and installed it. Got machine back together and I’m not getting any pressure. What would be the signs if I don’t have the shaft key in properly? Or any other suggestions?
Water comes out of nozzle with pressure for a quick second then no pressure, just water. This is a brand new pump so was curious if I installed it wrong. Wondering before taking it apart again.
