Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
The burning oil for a few minuets is more than likley the valve seals.. They often used plastic ones..

As far as the major leaks – that has to be seals and/or gaskits..
You would have to see exactly whre the leaks(s) is starting from..

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

The GX25 is a 25.0cc, four-stroke, single-cylinder, overhead camshaft engine that produces approximately 1-horsepower at 7000 revolutions per minute. The GX35 is slightly more powerful and produces 1.3-horsepower with a displacement of 35.8cc.
Burning oil is a common problem, but when it is ignored, it can do major damage to your car`s engine. Common culprits that result in burning oil include worn valve stems, guides and seals, and piston rings, all of which can allow oil to seep into combustion chambers.
The recommended viscosity is 0W-30.
The answer to this question is no. You cannot use 5w30 instead of 5w20. You should always use the type of oil that your car manufacturer recommends. 5w30 is a type of motor oil that is made for cold weather.
After rigorous testing and refinement, Honda began to fill their new Insight Hybrid at the factory with Idemitsu 0W-20. This lower viscosity higher grade synthetic oil used unique additives to enhance stability and reduce volatility – the typical drawbacks of low-viscosity oil.
The friction modifiers in car oil is used for improved fuel economy. So Honda recommend that the CBF1000 uses 10W30, known as the viscosity numbers. The “W” stands for “winter”, which relates to how the oil will flow when cold. The second number defines how the oil will flow at normal running temperature.
1 quart per 1000 miles is the maximum consumption allowed by industry standards. If you think that your car doesn`t use any oil because the oil level on the dipstick is always right in the center (on cold oil) or at the full mark (at operationg temperature), that`s actually an illusion.
The GX25 engine is a suitable power source for handheld applications like brush-cutters and non-handheld applications like concrete screeds, tillers and pumps. This engine is a perfect replacement for the 2-stroke engines in various applications.
This carburetor is specifically made for GX35 engines. Please be aware some sellers claim the GX35 and GX25 carburetors are interchangeable – this isn`t the case.
Motor Honey is an oil treatment that you add to your car`s regular motor oil. It`s designed to reduce oil burning (and the smoke that it sometimes causes) without having to make any changes to the engine itself. All you have to do is include one bottle with each oil change.
Always wait for the oil to cool before handling – Allowing the oil to cool in temperature will reduce the safety hazard, but not eliminate the possibility of burn Even after cooling, used cooking oil will remain seriously hot.
Immediately immerse the burn in cool tap water or apply cold, wet compresses. Do this for about 10 minutes or until the pain subsides. Apply petroleum jelly two to three times daily. Do not apply ointments, toothpaste or butter to the burn, as these may cause an infection.
If your engine is low on oil but there isn`t a leak, that means it`s probably being burned inside the engine. A bad PCV valve is a frequent culprit in the case of burning oil–but what is it, exactly? A PCV valve is designed to let air escape when the pressure in the crankcase is too high.
It is a fact that most engines will burn some oil. The majority of manufacturers consider one quart of oil in the range of 1,500 miles to be acceptable. It should also be pointed out there are some performance vehicles that will consume a quart of oil in less than 1,000 miles and is also considered acceptable.
A: It is not unusual that some Honda engine with buildup deposits on the oil control rings, which in turn lead to higher-than-expected oil consumption. As a general rule one quart of oil used in 1,000 to 2,000 miles is considered an industry standard.

your oil filler cap or oil filter may be the source. replacing these items will usually solve the problem. make sure that the oil filter is properly screwed on and tight enough. another common source is the valve cover area.
