I don’t know for sure on your mower but on many the bolt at the center of the blade is reverse threaded, so it’s righty-loosey. So you will turn it clockwise to get it off. Use a piece of 2×4 to hold the blade while you turn it, try WD-40 also. Be careful because if you were turning it the wrong way you will have to push hard, and if it breaks, or the wrench slips off you can damage yourself.

If you have an anvil handy, you can put the non-bend end under the anvil and then use your channel locks to slowly and gently bend the blade back, so it becomes straight again.
Even something like a slightly bent blade can quickly damage the engine and body, not to mention destroy your lawn. There are a few signs that point to a bent blade — an uneven cut, bumpy handling, strange grinding noises and the mower stalling.
A9 scraper blade bolts are made from high-grade steel for added toughness. These superior bolts have roll-formed threads with blended radiused root thread run-out increases resistance to fatigue. Cold forging provides a formed square neck and a raised spherical formed head for greater strength.
Electric mower blades are different from gas mower blades to make the battery last longer. This sacrifices cut quality, and these blades can also get bogged down in thicker growth.
Standard blades are the ideal choice when mulching the grass clippings may not be an option. Many professionals prefer to bag the clippings for a cleaner looking lawn. Bagging clippings will also remove leaves and debris from the lawn, leaving behind a well-manicured cut.
Unlike regular side-discharge lawn mowers, a mulching blade is designed to cut grass clippings into finer pieces so they can be mulched back into your yard. They generally feature a more curved style and frequently include extra cutting surfaces along the blade edges.
The curved surface and increased cutting edge allows the blade to cut the grass and bring it into the deck where it is cut several more times before falling back onto the lawn in much smaller pieces.

Husqvana LTH 2038 model, blade is bent so bought new ones, when i tried to put on the new ones the right hand side one hits the deck. What could it be (checked the blades they are the right ones)
ANSWER : It sounds like whatever bent the blade may have also bent the rotator shaft,, if this is the case – replace the right hand rotator shaft,, then re-install the new blades and all should be good to go.
(( if the shaft looks ok on a roll test,, it could be the mount and metal portion of the shaft and you could get lucky and try and use a breaker bar to flex and bend it back into the proper position ).

I would like to replace the mulching blades on my Sears Craftsman riding mower with regular cutting blades. I can find plenty of sources for new mulching blades, but not cutting blades. My mower is a model 917.259541 tractor and the blades currently on it are part #134149. I want to make sure I get the right size to replace them. Also, is there a source for a bagging system for this mower, that won’t cost as much as one from Sears?
ANSWER : The straight blade for the 42 inch mower is 138971.They cut better and are easier to sharpen and you will need them if you use a gass catcher. If you do not want to use sears for parts you may be able to find good deals on ebay.

I need to get the blade of the lawn mower sharpened.Any tips on how to disconnect the blade fropm the lawn mower?
ANSWER : There is a jig that you can buy that makes this job SO much eaiser. It is a universal jig that clamps onto the deck and keeps the blade from spinning so you can use a ratchet to remove the nut holding the blade on. One name brand is called a “Blade Hog”. You should be able to find one of these at one of the bog box hardware stores.
Hope this helps,
Chad

Mowing I accidently it teh concrete on teh side walk, which bent my blades. I bought new ones and replaced them. But when i mow, it seems like only one blade is cutting. I am afraid i did damage to something else. What could it be?
ANSWER : I did the same thing. I replace the belt that turns the blades. The pressure of the impact had stretched the belt and was slipping on the pully that engages the blades. Try that first and check the other belts for tension, wear and condition….Also make sure all springs are attached, not stretched, and in good shape…Hope this is helpful….Joe

ANSWER : Sounds to me as if you have broken a shear pin in one of the drive pulleys. They are made this way so a shear pin will break instead of doing real damage to the drive train itself.
