The air filter may be clogged or dirty. If the air filter is clogged, the engine will get too much fuel and not enough air. As a result, the engine may not start. If the air filter is clogged, replace it.
If your engine runs, but the trimmer blades do not move when the throttle is engaged, the clutch may be broken or improperly tensioned. The clutch is attached to the crankshaft, and engages the gearbox to start rotating once a certain rotational speed is reached.
The first thing to do is to ensure that the battery is fully charged. If after charging the battery you are still experiencing the problem, then it may indicate a fault with either the battery or charger. The defective item will need to be replaced.
If your trimmer won`t turn on, especially if it has not been used recently, you may simply have a drained battery. Plug your trimmer into your charger and see if anything happens. Ideally your trimmer will recognize it has been connected to a power source and charge its battery.
over time the arrestor can become clogged with soot which may cause the trimmer engine to stall. you can try cleaning the arrestor with a wire brush. but you may need to replace it with a new.
The clutch engages the clutch pads to spin the trimmer head. If the clutch assembly is defective, the clutch will not disengage the clutch pads, and the trimmer head will continue to spin, even at low speeds. If the clutch is defective, replace it. (Note: some string trimmers do not have a clutch.

The most common problem with a string trimmer is that the unit runs out of string. The string may also be twisted or loose on the spool. The cutting head may be dirty or the head outlet guide may be bent. An electric trimmer`s power cord, switch, or motor may fail.

ANSWER : Does this happen when the gas tank if completely full? If this only happens when the gas tank gets a little emptier than full, I think I know what the problem is. There are two hoses which run from the gas tank to the carb. One of the hoses is attached inside the gas tank to the “bottom” of the tank. The other one is just inside the tank. These two hoses have to create the correct liquid air combination in order to ciphon the gas out of the tank, hence no fuel pump. The primer button starts the ciphon at initial start-up. The problem is either your hoses or your primer button.
