be connected correctly.
Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
Hi, I recommend checking the fuse. If you are using a mains circuit breaker or extension lead, also try connecting the trimmer direct to the mains or see if another device operates from the same breaker/extension lead.
How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?
We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
A clogged carburetor is most commonly caused by leaving fuel in the hedge trimmer for a long period of time. Over time, some of the ingredients in the fuel may evaporate, leaving behind a thicker, stickier substance. This sticky fuel can clog up the carburetor and cause the engine to stall or run roughly.
The first thing to do is to ensure that the battery is fully charged. If after charging the battery you are still experiencing the problem, then it may indicate a fault with either the battery or charger. The defective item will need to be replaced.
Checking for debris or damaged blades: Visually inspect the blades and confirm there is no debris stopping the blades from moving. If there is debris ensure the machine is powered off when removing any blockages. Check the blades for any damage as a damaged cutting blade could cause the machine to stop working.
The air filter may be clogged or dirty. If the air filter is clogged, the engine will get too much fuel and not enough air. As a result, the engine may not start. If the air filter is clogged, replace it.
Just Like Spark plug fouling, too much oil in the gasoline, inferior oil, a dirty air filter and/or continued operation at less than full throttle will plug the screen with carbon deposits. This prevents exhaust gases from flowing out, which leads to power loss or not running at all.
over time the arrestor can become clogged with soot which may cause the trimmer engine to stall. you can try cleaning the arrestor with a wire brush. but you may need to replace it with a new.
You need to ensure the battery is fully charged and the charger is correctly connected during the charging process. Another fault which can cause your Gtech trimmer not to work is the safety switch in the handle. To check it is operating correctly listen for a `click` when it is pressed.
For best operation and longer blade life, lubricate the hedge trimmer blade with a lightweight machine oil before and after each use.
Most hedge trimmers are powered either by 20V or 40V batteries. While 40V batteries are obviously the most powerful type, 20V is adequate for most hedge trimming. You might be surprised to learn that the 20V battery lasts a very long time, around 40 minutes of use.
As such, we recommend sharpening after every 50 hours of use or so, to ensure consistent cutting performance and to enable you to enjoy your hedge trimmer for a long time to come. You can also find all the important information you need about sharpening your hedge trimmer in the operating instructions.
It`s not necessary to lubricate the blades of a hedge trimmer to prevent rusting because they are pre-hardened rust resistant steel. However, you can use a lubricant to clean the blades, we recommend a light spray on lubricant such as WD-40 to give a thin coating.

Neuton cordless hedge trimmer sounds “rattly” and the blade doesn’t go back and forth. the battery is good. could it be the motor?
Sounds like a problem I had, and it was the primary gear on the motor was stripped. So far no luck at finding the gear, but to replace the trimmer without battery would probably be cheaper.
Blades wont move when power connected. Stripped it down. Motor is fine. I think it must be the gears attached to the blade unit
Either the gears, OR SOME machines have a “CENTRIFUGAL CLUTCH” [a safety feature] between the engine and the blades.
IF your machine has this feature, then it’s possible that the clutch has worn out and is slipping so badly that the blade won’t move.

I have the black and decker 22″ hedge trimmer. I haven’t used it more than say 3 times. All of a sudden as I am trimming a bush, it goes out. I tried a different plug, extension cord, etc. and it still doesn’t work. So I know it is the unit. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
If you only used it three times from new then I would take it back to where I bought it.
