Getting the prsh wheels to drive the mower is a simple task. They are belt driven so either the belt is clogged, or there is something on the pulleys that makes them slip. You may have to flip the machine up on the front end to see the pullies and clear them. If things are very wet, that could also cause those symptoms.

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

Set the cutting height to the correct position

One of the reasons for the lawn mower being hard to push is a low cutting height. In this case, the housing or the cutting blade is dragged through heavy grass.

To drive the mower forward, the wheels must be firmly planted on the ground. Thus, front-wheel drive is basically useless when lifting the front to turn or when the wheels bounce up off the turf. The rear wheels, however, are always grounded, providing exceptional traction control and maneuverability.
Lawn Mower Ignition Problems

Remove the spark plug; clean the contact or replace the plug. Purchase new spark plugs from Briggs & Stratton`s online parts store or your area Snapper lawn mower dealer. Is the spark plug lead bad? Test the lead with a spark tester, and then test the lawn mower engine.

The mower`s larger rear wheels allow it to be pushed easier than smaller wheels. The rear wheels are also easier to use on hard ground as smaller wheels do not have as much pushing power as larger wheels.
Not under power. Most walk-behind, self-propelled mowers have only one forward speed under propulsion, but can be pulled backward by hand. For reverse under power, you generally need to get a riding mower.
Self-propelled mowers will save you time and energy. You can cut through thick grass with a self-propelled mower without expending extra effort because the mower mechanically moves forward through challenging areas in your yard.
If the PTO clutch is not getting power, if the clutch solenoid is defective, or if the clutch is worn out, the lawn mower blades will not engage. The PTO clutch is not repairable—if the clutch is defective, you must replace it.
Low fuel pressure can cause a backfire when there`s too much air and not enough fuel in the combustion chamber. This can be rectified on lawn mowers with speed settings by simply increasing the speed and thus increasing the fuel supply. Another possible cause is a failing fuel pump or even an old fuel filter.
For most effective results, a lawn mower deck should have a pitch, or height difference of 1/8-inch to 1/2-inch between the front of the deck to the back of the deck.
Should the front of the mower run lower than the rear? Yes. The grass is cut on the front side of the mower and not at the rear. This leaves a better and more consistent cut and aides in better material distribution.
Modern reel mowers are not at all hard to push. The Brill weighs 16.1 lbs. Power mowers weigh about fifty pounds or more. It does take some energy to get the Brill going, but once it is in motion you keep it going by walking at a regular, enjoyable pace.
Operating a manual lawn mower takes some effort, and you may be operating it more often, so make sure you`re up for the exercise. While they don`t require as much maintenance as a gas-powered model, these mowers do require maintenance to provide a good cut.
Push mowers are naturally lighter than self-propelled models, so they`re easier to maneuver, especially when they`re turned off. As a result, moving them from garage or shed to lawn (and back again) requires less of an effort.
