How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?
We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
There are a variety of reasons as to why your pressure washer may not start. Some of these include, a dirty air filter, lack of or old fuel, problems with the spark plug wire`s connection or a bad spark plug, water in the fuel or an excessively rich fuel mixture, or the choke is in the ON position.
One of the most common reasons a pressure washer won`t stay running is because the spark plug is dirty or damaged. To clean the spark plug, you will need to remove it from the engine and use a wire brush to remove any build-up on the electrode.
Fuel requirements are as follows: • Clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline. Minimum rating of 87 octane/87 AKI (91 RON). Up to 10% ethanol (gasohol) is acceptable. DO NOT use E85.
The number one cause of low or no pressure when using a pressure washer is a blocked or worn nozzle. Blocked nozzles will prevent water from escaping, while a worn nozzle will allow too much water to pass through, causing the pressure to drop.
How Do I Tell If My Unloader Valve is Bad? In most occurrences, the first symptom of an unloader valve going bad is no pressure from the wand when the trigger is pressed. This happens when the unloader valve gets stuck open and does not allow water to enter the hose and trigger.
Begin isolating the problem by hooking a water hose to the washer`s inlet and turning it on. If water flows out the outlet, you know water is cycling through. If not, chances are your inlet filter is clogged. Remove and clean it, and you should be good to go.
Turn on the water. The pressure washer hose will fill with water, so it is important to purge the system of excess air before starting the unit. Simply squeeze the trigger on the gun and the air will release.
It Can Harm The Unit
Without water to cool and lubricate it, the pump will work harder than it should, causing it to wear down quickly. This can happen even with just a few seconds of running the pressure washer without the water being turned on.
Using an old, worn-out nozzle is a common cause of lost pressure, and also has one of the simplest fixes. All you need to do is replace the nozzle and make sure you`re using the proper size. Don`t go by the color of the nozzle, make sure you check the orifice size.

Pressure washer surges – Generac 2700 PSI 2.3 GPM Gas Pressure Washer Non CA
This could be your unloader valve taking in account the engine isn’t surging. Does the engine run smooth? Do you have at least 50 psi water pressure feeding the pump? Inlet screen clogged? ALL tips act same way or no change?
Starts great and sprays great, but will not continue to run when [ stop spraying. It locks up until I release the pressure from the gun.is there a pressure by-pass adjustment I can make?
Tune up motor, replace air filter/spark plug and oil.
Honda powwer boss 3000-whenyoupull the handale to spray it kills the engine
Sounds like the unloader (regulator). Try removing the nozzle, the pull the trigger with the engine running. If motor is still running then it could be the Unloader malfunctioning. If you require a new one try a bypass system for the unloader. The bypass will help save the life of the unloader.
Motor runs, water flows but no pressure. I hope someone has an idea to the cause.
There are different tips on the nozzle, if you use the tip that lets soap into the hose, the pressure is very low. Change to a smaller tip and there will be back pressure and it should work as designed, however there may be an unloader valve sticking open
No pressure Pump reassembly. I purchased a new pump and installed it. Got machine back together and I’m not getting any pressure. What would be the signs if I don’t have the shaft key in properly? Or any other suggestions?
Water comes out of nozzle with pressure for a quick second then no pressure, just water. This is a brand new pump so was curious if I installed it wrong. Wondering before taking it apart again.
No pressure would be a sign that the key was not in properly.
I have a Northstar pressure washer powered by a honda GC160 engine. The last time i used it, water leaks from the bottom of the unit, whether it is running or not. When running, the pressure is fine. I have felt underneath and it appears that the water is coming from the second opening from the rear. Is there a pressure relief valve there. I have a manual but cannot find any descriptors for underneath the motor.
This is a piston seal issue. You can get a kit to rebuild the pump.
Does not have high pressure – Campbell Hausfeld PW1750 Electric Pressure Washer
Either the pump is bad or worn out or the pressure relief valve is stuck open and needs to be closed. No kinks in water line to unit?

Could be low water pressure I have found. Also, I purchased a can of “stuff” at Lowes today which allows you to circulate a liquid substance which lubricates the pressure pump….the pump could be frozen up…I have a rotating nozzle which I bought…and it had frozen up…this stuff works
