Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
Not suppose to be, but happens, remove the spark plug, and run the starter about 30 second, to clean the cylinder. Clean the spark plug and try to start it. When it’s start it will smoke, but do not worry it will be OK, after a sort time. Good Luck
How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?
We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
What causes fuel to leak into my engine oil? The fuel shut-off valve isn`t closed properly. Fuel float in the carburetor being stuck in the open position due to gumming (caused by stale fuel) or debris.
This occurs because most seals are not perfect (nor are the cylinders perfectly rounded), or there is an opening through the cylinder crosshatches, and this causes the migration of fuel and exhaust gases into the areas where the oil is used.
Usually the problem is in the float bowl. The float needle and seat need replacing. When it`s faulty, gas doesn`t stop flooding the carburetor and gets into the cylinder and mixes with the oil. You must also change the oil when this happens as your oil is now ruined.
Two-stroke (or 2-cycle) engines require a mixture of fuel and oil be added to the fuel tank. This mixture results in both engine combustion and lubrication. Operating a 2-Stroke engine on gasoline alone will result in engine failure.
If carburetor problems are causing fuel to mix with your oil in the crankcase, you should perform a thorough cleaning. Find out how to clean your small engine carburetor.
The fuel doesn`t burn off completely. Reduce the mileage change interval to the strictest change interval indicated by the manufacturer.
Engine Oil Is Contaminated:
Fuel or coolant in the oil will cause low engine oil pressure. Excess fluids in the oil consequently will cause high oil levels in the crankcase. High oil levels in the crankcase will generally always point to excessive fluid leaking somewhere else in the engine.
A leaking snowblower carburetor float valve is the most common cause of a snowblower`s oil smelling like gas. Engine oil contamination is serious and can cause an engine to seize. The repair is simple, replace the float valve and change the engine oil.
Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy is a readily available test that most oil analysis laboratories use. It can detect fuel, but you must have a new oil reference and a fuel reference to know where to look on the spectrum to determine if fuel is in the oil sample.
Blue or white smoke coming from your engine usually indicates burning oil, which can be caused by: Overfilling the crankcase with oil. Incorrect oil grades. Operating engine at greater than a 15 degree angle.
If your manufacturer recommends a 50:1 fuel/oil mix, it means you need 50 parts of gas to one part two-stroke oil. To mix one gallon of fuel at 50:1, add 2.6 ounces of two-stroke oil to one gallon of gas, as shown in the chart below.
For a 50:1 ratio of gas to oil, use 2.6 fluid ounces of oil per gallon of gas. For a 40:1 mixture, use 3.2 fluid ounces of oil per gallon of gas. For a 32:1 mixture, use 4 fluid ounces of oil per gallon of gas.
What should your motor oil color be? Color: Caramel or tan. This is what color your car`s oil SHOULD be – when it`s put in your car, it`s caramel, amber, or tan colored. If it stays that way, it means your car is in good shape and the oil is clean and free of debris, so it can do the job it`s meant to do.
Putting gas in an oil lawn mower can cause serious damage to the engine and can even be dangerous. Not only can it cause damage to the engine, but it can also cause a fire or an explosion if the gas is ignited.
Gas is less dense than both and will float to the top. Petroleum produced by source rocks will migrate into a “reservoir” rock.
If you`ve noticed your lawn mower smoking and leaking oil, it`s most likely due to a dirty air filter. The air filter in an engine keeps debris and dirt out of it, while the grass and dust accumulate over time. When the air filters are clogged, oil can leak into the engine and out of the exhaust system.
