Depending on how often the little machine starts and its age, the inside of the bulb will eventually get gooey, causing it to stick. If a brittle bulb cracks around the seal, air will leak out the side rather than force fuel from the tank into the bulb, also causing a collapse.
Primer bulbs do not work well if there is lots of air and no fuel. I spent over one hour getting my new boat primed. You might try running the hose and bulb to a can of gas (lots of things can go bad with can of gas, be careful) and see if the motor will fill and firm up the bulb.
ANSWER: The primer bulb, which is located in the fuel line between the gas tank and the engine, is used to fill the carburetor with fuel when the engine is started cold.
The operation of the primer bulb is quite simple. When the filled bulb is squeezed, the pressure closes the inlet valve and opens the outlet valve which then sends the fuel supply to the engine.
The (clear) fuel intake line runs from the top of the carburetor (straight nipple) and goes to the short post on the back of the primer bulb. The return line (blue) comes from the long post on the back of the primer bulb and goes into the bottom of the fuel tank.
A primer accidentally left open will cause the engine to run rough after starting.
A primer bulb is important because it helps to fill the carburetor with the correct amount of fuel. You may need to fix or replace your primer bulb if: It is not creating proper suction/pressure. It has a crack in it.
To provide an adequate fuel/air mixture, gas may be placed directly into the carburetor to prime the engine. Priming carburetors is a dangerous and unnecessary practice and can produce explosion or fire!
There are different types of gasoline primer bulbs, all of which contain various types of valves inside. Sometimes these bulbs become so hard it`s difficult to squeeze them; sometimes even though you can squeeze them, they pump poorly, if at all.
Air bulbs are made of plastic or rubber and eventually deteriorate, crack or break with usage. A broken or cracked air bulb needs replacing to start your weed eater effectively.

all primer bulbs are not the same size!

Stihl FS85 starts fine, But not take full throttle
ANSWER : Pumping the primer bubble while the engine is running should cause the engine to over fuel and stall (if the tuning is correct). Sounds like its not fueling enough, pumping the primer is forcing fuel through the carb causing the engine to pick up rev’s, but this is soon exhausted which is why it wont rev on the throttle.* Check that the fuel line is not damaged and drawing in air. (if this is intact try the next step)* Strip and clean the carb. Replace any diaphrams if needed.* Check gaskets seal between carb, air filter and cylinder.Just out of curiosity what standard carb settings did you use.?

Trimmer head won’t rotate
ANSWER : Usually this is a clutch problem, the clutch is under the drum and when it engages turns the drum which turns the drive shaft which turns the trimmer head. If the drum is not turning than it is the clutch, if the clutch is turning the drive shaft could be broke, if the drive shaft is not broke than the problem would be in the gears of the trimmer head.
