Hydraulic cylinders can be repaired, but you should never attempt these repairs on your own. Working with a trained technician will ensure fewer mistakes and a faster turnaround time. Although hydraulic cylinders have a simple design, you must be familiar with them in order to efficiently repair them.
It can cost anywhere from $50 to a few thousand dollars to repair a hydraulic cylinder. The price varies with the size of the cylinder and the amount of repairs needed but we will always give you a fair deal.
How Do I Identify a Hydraulic Cylinder or Hydraulic Accumulator? Cross welded and tie rod hydraulic cylinders as well as accumulators are stamped with an identifying stock number on the cylinder barrel near the head (rod end) of the cylinder. (Date code, location and tester are stamped on a second line.)
In some cases, a hydraulic cylinder may be so badly damaged that replacement is the only course of action that makes sense. However, in most cases, that is not true. Most cylinder damage can be repaired by skilled professionals back to the condition, or near the condition, it was in when it was new.
The most common cause of hydraulic cylinder failure is leaking seals, which not only allow critical fluids to leave the system (including lubricants) but allow damaging contaminants (water, air, and particles) to make their way inside the hydraulic cylinder.
A Brief Overview of Hydraulic Cylinders

When these cylinders fail, it can cause production downtime and profit loss. If well-maintained, you can expect hydraulic systems to last up to 15 years on average before they need to be rebuilt or replaced.

Just as with other parts of your hydraulic machine requiring lube, grease the cylinder joints on a regular basis to prevent uneven or excessive wear. An ounce of prevention goes a long way. 5. Inspect your lube oil system.
Failing to lubricate at the correct intervals dramatically increases wear rates, causing frequent and expensive tool bushing and tool replacement. If you do nothing else for your hydraulic hammer, grease it regularly with the correct hammer grease.
If your master cylinder is underperforming, you may not need to replace the entire cylinder. A master cylinder kit will allow you to replace and upgrade the piston, seals, snap ring and the dust boot.

While it is possible for hydraulics and gear fluids to be reconditioned, you may find that it will not be economical depending on your volume of usage. It`s exciting to think about how far this technology has come and is continuing to go.

Where will i find the hydraulic filter on my
ANSWER : The filter and suction strainer should be behind the hitch or “lift” cover. There will be a paper filter element normally with a suction screen under it. Be sure to pull the suction screen and clean the area surrounding it. You may be able to call your the Ford/New holland dealer for your area and get a little more precise information also. As I recall these are common sump with the transmission, but I could be mistaken on that. Best regards, Marvin
