Should I use fluorescent or hid?

Until the early 1980’s most indoor growers used fluorescent lights to illuminate their garden. These tubes have tremendous advantages over incandescents. They emit about 3 times as much light as an incandescent (given the same wattage), and the light spectrum is one that plants con use more effectively.

However, they do certainly have their limitations. Light is emitted over a large area, so it is not concentrated. Because of this, the lights have to be hung very close to the plants (usually within 2″ or so from the grow tips), and constantly moved to accommodate plant growth. This makes garden maintenance rather difficult, even when the lamps are hung on chains.

Florescents are, however, very useful in cloning, and starting seedlings. Because in these stages, a plant is not growing vertically very quickly, the disadvantages of moving the lights are reduced. They also put out a more gentle light than the HID lamps, and release less heat. The fact that they produce less heat is very important to those growing in enclosed and not-especially-well ventilated spaces.

If you choose to use fluorescents, it is best to purchase the ‘cool white’ variety. The ones that are sold as grow lamps (including grow-lux, vitalite, etc.) are much less efficient than a standard fluorescent, and just do not put out enough light to be useful. The slightly different spectrum produced by these lamps does nothing for most plants. Some growers have reported excellent results by using a mixture of cool-white and warm-white lamps in a florescent fixture.

LED Grow Lights Emit A Minimum Amount of Heat

As discussed earlier, HPS lights require a higher distance between them and the plants compared to LEDs. A cultivator using HID grow lights incurs higher power bills due to the extra cost of regulating temperature using fans.

HPS grow lights don`t need to be adjusted as often and they produce a more intense light (greater lumen/watt ratio) that gets plants to grow faster than with CFLs. Generally you`ll get better overall results with an HPS (though CFLs can definitely produce dank buds too).

HID headlights provide a larger range of coverage than LED headlights, but they can reflect glare onto oncoming traffic if they`re not installed properly, so it`s important to have them inspected by an experienced professional.
HID bulbs are also frequently called HPS bulbs, so if you see them used interchangeably, don`t be confused. These bulbs are large – about the size of your arm, in some cases. These bulbs differ further depending on the type of gas they use to power themselves.
Offering low energy usage, low heat, and color optimized for growth, LED lights are the most efficient, effective, and customer-friendly way to grow plants at home than growing with fluorescent lights or incandescent lights.
Compared to fluorescent bulbs, LED lights are up to 80% more efficient. Unlike fluorescent lights, LED lights convert 95% of their energy into light and only 5% is wasted as heat; this is all while still using far less power to provide a strong and consistent output at a lower wattage.

How can I wire fluorescent tube light.There’s 2 cables incoming through the wall.One has red,black and green/yellow.Other has red and black only.I’ve tried connecting both reds from the incoming cables to ”L”,both blacks to ”N” and single incoming yellow/green to ”E”. When power is switched on a ”pop” is heard and power goes off again! When single red is connected to ”L”,power is switched on the light remains illuminated even when switch is off! Please advise what I’m doing wrong. Thanks. PS Sorry I cant find or enter a valid product.
ANSWER : If you have 1 switch ! take the cabel wiv the yellow red black an green conect green to E earth , conect the to reds together that will feed the switch connect the black to the nutral on the light fiting and tape up the yellow not needed !,then take the cabel wiv only red and black , the red is connected to the other red as explaind above ,then the black is the return from the switch therfor connect it to the live tuminal on the light fiting MAKE SURE U TURN IT OFF AT THE FUSE BORD FIRST PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!

New fluorescent bulbs dim, won’t start, two never work in same fixture.

Do you have to have two fluorescent bulbs working in a circuit for them to light up?
ANSWER : If you are talking about a 2 bulb floresent fixture, then yes, both bulbs have to be in and good for the light to work.

What grade of oil do i use in the zwd 4040 hi pressure pump
ANSWER : 30 weight NON DETERGENT. Autozone and other autoparts stores usually have it. It is often hard to find, so you might have to ask them where they hid it.
