Water simply pulsates with a lot of air bubbles.
Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
A flojet pump will burp or spit air and water on the output if it is running out of water and sucking in air as well as water.
If you have a good water supply (like a holding tank full of water), then I would check your intake line fittings between the pump and the tank for leaks. When the pump sucks, that may be how air getting into the line. Another possibility is that the diaphragm in the internal pump head is ruptured and is leaking, letting air get into the output. In that case, Flojet sells rebuild kits which are easy to install. it is not normal for air to be coming out of the pump as well as water. One more thing…depending on where and how you pick up your water, be sure the pick up tube in your tank is below the water line.

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

When wells pulsate, it`s usually because there`s not enough water pressure in the well`s water tank. Well water tanks have an internal air bladder, and an external electrical switch. When either or both of these components wear out, owners start noticing pulsing water going through their pipes.
Adjustable nozzle screwed up restricting flow, excessive restriction in nozzle or hose or nozzle size too small. Also the spray gun may be blocked by chemical for example, also check that everything for flow side of the pump is not blocked.
Yes you can easily adjust the cut-off point of the pump. If you remove the cover plate on the pressure switch you will see a cross-head screw between the 2 electrical connectors. To lower the cut-off pressure of the pump simply unscrew a little until you get the desired result.
More than likely, you just have an air leak. You should check the stem for air leaks and make repairs if air is escaping. Then add air to the tank, but be careful. Too much air can cause the air bladder to burst.
Too Little Air in the Reservoir Tank

These tanks depend on air pressure within to regulate the pressure switch. If the inside air pressure drops, the tank will not trigger the pressure switch correctly, causing the pump to switch ON and OFF erroneously.

A surge in pressure within a piping system, known as water or fluid hammer, occurs whenever the linear flow rate of fluid in pipe changes quickly – when pumps start or stop, valves open or close with quick acting actuation devices, or entrapped air moves within the system.
You can usually resolve the issue by replacing the faulty part, installing a water pressure regulator, or hiring a professional to troubleshoot and treat the problem.
Pressure surging in pumping systems can be fatal and potentially destructive to pumps. Surging is “A sudden increase in the pressure of the liquid in a pipeline brought about by an abrupt change in flow velocity1. The change in pressure can be a drastic increase or a decrease.
All reciprocating pumps have a pulsating discharge. This is the result of the piston motion as it stops and reverses.

The Flojet Pump Pressure Switch is a replacement pressure switch for the Flojet 12V pump 20psi.
For a single level home or a two story home without water fixtures on the 2nd floor a 30/50 PSI setting may be sufficient. For two or more levels with water fixtures on more than one level you may want to use 40/60 PSI setting. It`s easier for a pump to supply the lower pressures and it`s less strain on old plumbing.
If the water supply pipes become clogged, the pump will short cycle. A clog in the water supply creates high water pressure very quickly. The best way to check for this is to check the water filter. If it`s dirty or blocked, replace it, and you may restore function.

I have a 1/2 horse wayne shallow well pump. At times the water in the house slows to a trickel. This will happen for about 40-120 seconds then the pump seems to kick on and the pressure is restored. I have replaced the high low switch and the problem persists. Please let me know any thoughts on the problem. Thank You
ANSWER : Check air in your water tank should be less than you’re cut in pressure..

The well pump is running, but no water is supplied to thr irrigation lines. once I put water in the pump housing by removing the pump guage the pump pumps water through the irrigation lines. when it shuts down, iloose the prime again. what should I do?
ANSWER : Sounds like you have an air leak. First check your fittings, next carefully run water over the pump seals (avoid getting water on the motor or you’ll hurt yourself and the pump if not worse) the pump will prime if the leaking seal is covered with water. Take your time and be careful and it should only be a matter of a loose fitting or simple seal swap.

I have a pressure booster pump installed which turns on automatically when we open the tap and turns off by itself when we close the tap, but when power goes and comes back(common in india), the pump will turn on even with no tap opened and does not turn off automatically and goes on running, some kind of airlock problem I think, when we just shut off and on water input several times, it again starts working well
ANSWER : Check to see if the output pipe has water in it when the pump swutches off the pump needs to be primed at all time what we normally find cases like this is the pump is higher than the supply or there is an air pocket on the output where the pressure sensor is

I have a Utilitech brand one-horse motor convertible jet pump. The pump is running, and I’m down 43 feet to the bottom of my well. From the top to the water level is 32 feet, and I have 11 feet of water. When it’s not pumping, it sits at 20 PSI When it’s pumping water, it sits at 11 PSI. But then just pumps for appr. 10 minutes, and then shuts off. I can wait awhile & pick the pipe up and down, and it starts pumping again. Then I shut the faucet off and it goes back up to 20 PSI. Then I turn it on & drops down to 11 PSI. I do not lose my prime, and I have no leaks. This is a brand new pump. \r\n I had a 1/2 horsepower pump for several years, and just replaced it with this one horsepower pump, and I can’t get it to work right. When it’s pumping water, it pumps at 11 PSI. I have my foot valve at 4 1/2 feet from the bottom.

Pump runs for a few minutes becomes hot and stops then starts again
ANSWER : Pump motor is overheating or drawing too much current and the safety is shutting the motor down. After a period, it automatically kicks back in (quite common). Replace motor (and safety which probably comes with, or is actually contained inside motor).
