How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?
We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
The letters on the screws represent High (H), Low (L) and Idle (T). The H screw regulates the Air/Fuel mix during high RPMs, while the L Screw does the same during low RPMs. The T screw regulates how much fuel is sent to the carburettor while idling until the throttle is pressed.
If your carburettor has a main jet adjustment screw at the base of the float bowl, turn the screw clockwise until you feel it just touch the seat inside the emulsion tube. Then, turn the screw counterclockwise 1 to 1-1/2 turns. Replace the air cleaner assembly and start the engine for final carburettor adjustments.
If the carburetor is new or has been rebuilt, you should set it to “factory” adjustment. You can do so by adjusting the idle mixture screws to 1.5-2 turns out, and the idle speed screw to 1-1.5 turns in. Warm the Engine Up. The engine`s running temperature directly correlates with proper air and fuel mixtures.
This method involves looking at the base of the spark plug insulator (white part of the plug) for a slight coloring on the insulator just above where the insulator comes through the steel case. If the mixture is too lean, it will leave no color, while a rich mixture will cause the fuel ring to become more prominent.
Find the adjustment screws on the front of the carburetor.
There should be two screws on the front of the carburetor, which are used to adjust the air and fuel mixture. These often look like flat-head screws, and you can use a screwdriver to turn them, adjusting the amount of fuel and air mixing in the carb.

455 rancher not oiling – Husqvarna , No.455 Rancher, 20" Gas – Powered Chainsaw
ANSWER : May be stoped up at chain.
55 rancher Husqvarna got very hot due to no oil in gas, and will not start again.
ANSWER : The piston rings rely on the oil in the gas to lubricate the cylinder wall. More than likely, the rings are now too small to provide the proper seal for enough compression. It could also have worn the cylinder wall more than the rings, the end result is the same.
You can try to remove the plug, put in about a 1/2 teaspoon of oil into the plug opening, slowly pulll the rope 1 time to let the oil coat the ring & wall & then put the plug back in & try to start it. Use a little extra oil in your gas to provide thicker lubrication. good luck
I have a 09 455 rancher that will start with choke on . Idles with choke off but bogs when throttled up. I believe the bottom carb gasket is leaking. Parts houses say call for carb parts.
ANSWER : If gas is leaking from the carb, can you see if it is a damaged fuel line with a leak or coming from the carb itself. If it is the carb tighten the screws on the carb itself. If neither one is the problem you probably do need a carb kit installed. Hope this is helpful. Best regards and good luck.

Husqvarna rancher, leaks oil when saw is off. where rubber hose meets pump, seems to fit together well but still leaks out. drains full tank of oil. any fixes or better parts.
ANSWER : The hose is leaking. You will have to replace the hose. You do not have to disassemble the saw in half as many seem to think. Just some of the parts that are in the way. You can insert a wire and pull the hose out from the oil tank along with the filter. It goes in and you remove only the parts that are in the way where the hose comes out.
