How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

If your edger is difficult to start, you will need to check the spark plug, air filter, primer bulb, trigger, fuel lines, and carb. This is a common symptom.
An efficient 4-stroke OHV engine, offers diligent performance and an easy startup thanks to the manual recoil system. The edger features a 3-point triangular blade that can be adjusted to allow for bevel edging and a more accommodating cut.
Remove the air filter and spray carburetor cleaner into the intake. Let it sit for several minutes to help loosen and dissolve varnish. Replace the filter and try starting the trimmer. If this doesn`t solve the problem, consider disassembling the carburetor to give it a more thorough cleaning.
Your Mower Won`t Start:

If you have last season`s gas in your mower, drain your fuel tank and fill with fresh gas. Other possible causes include: Loose, Dirty or Disconnected Spark Plug in Your Lawn Mower: Check it out, clean off debris, re-connect and tighten. Dirty Air Filter: Clean or replace.

If your RYOBI Edger isn`t starting: For 18V or 36V Battery models: check the battery has charge by pressing the fuel gauge. For AC models: turn the power point switch off and check the cord is inserted correctly in the extension lead. Use a heavy-duty extension lead no longer than 25m for optimal performance.
The carburetor might be clogged. A clogged carburetor is often caused by leaving fuel in the edger for a long period of time. Over time, some of the ingredients in the fuel will evaporate, leaving behind a thicker, stickier substance. This sticky fuel can clog up the carburetor and prevent the engine from starting.
Turn on the ignition switch and pull the starting cord quickly. You should see a spark in the plug gap. Since the spark may be faint, it may help to do the test in a dark area. If there is no spark, check for a broken or shorted (bare) lead wire or bad switch.
If your blade isn`t spinning while in use, consider raising the height of the blade in order to reduce the strain on the Edger. Start the Edger slightly out of the grass and drop in to position and cut at a steady pace. If the blade begins to bog down, you are edging too quickly; slow your pace.

If your trimmer engine idles, but stalls on throttle, check the following parts: the gasket, primer bulb, fuel filter, air filter, fuel vent, fuel line, and carburetor. The repair and symptom guide will help you better identify the part needed to be replaced and how.
