Look for the model and serial number on the garden tractor. According to the company, this can be found on the front left or front right side of the tractor frame. For most effective results, a lawn mower deck should have a pitch, or height difference of 1/8-inch to 1/2-inch between the front of the deck to the back of the deck.
Failure of any mechanical component, a broken hose, or clogged filter will cause tractor hydrostatic transmission problems. But the most common issue will be the oil itself. In the transmission section of your operator`s manual, you`ll find a section that covers oil viscosity.
The “Deck Belt” goes around the pulleys right above the blades on the deck and then to a double pulley. The “Drive Belt” on your mower goes from the transmission, around an Idler pulley then over to the double pulley I mentioned before. The Drive belt also plays a role in making the wheels turn.
Belts on mowers should last between 100 and 150 hours of operation. Life expectancy can vary greatly depending on the belt`s quality, the mower type, and the frequency of use.

Mower starts runs begins to back fire and run
ANSWER : Sounds like it is leaning out, running out of fuel. That can be the strainer at the gas tank, any fuel filters it has. Disconnect the fuel line from the carb and see how good the flow is to it, and check for water. A new spark plug never hurts.

Blades won’t turn to cut grass
ANSWER : On the chute where the grass comes out there is a black piece of metal under the edge of the deck held on by the 2 big thumb screws is probably bent. You will need to try to move the blade on the side near the chute by hand (Make sure the mower is not running when you do this) if the blade touches the black piece of metal it will kill the mower if you engage the blades and try moving forward. Anyway you need to take the black metal piece off and bend the corner out of the way (I used a crescent and clamped it to the hitch on my pickup). I am guessing i went over something like a street curb with the deck when it was to low and that bent it. Now when ever I move the mower from someones yard or drive it across the street I always raise the deck up all the way. I hope this helps
