How Do I Tell If My Unloader Valve is Bad? In most occurrences, the first symptom of an unloader valve going bad is no pressure from the wand when the trigger is pressed. This happens when the unloader valve gets stuck open and does not allow water to enter the hose and trigger.
If your hose is 100 feet or less, no, your hose will not likely have issues. However, if you want to use a hose that is a few hundred feet long, you will lose a noticeable amount of water pressure. Most pressure washers are not sold with long hoses because the best pressure is achieved from a shorter hose.
Give Your Pressure Washer a Break
No matter how powerful your pressure washer might be, it`s never a good idea to leave your machine running for too long because doing so will increase the risk that it will overheat. Instead, most professionals suggest using a pressure washer in intervals of three to five minutes.
Some of the most common faults that will make your washer stop mid cycle include thermostat failure, problems filling up with water for the rinse cycle, or even pump problems that prevent your washer from draining. One thing that you can check yourself is the lid switch.
Low water pressure in a kitchen faucet is often fixed by cleaning the aerator and changing the cartridge. Sediment buildup is common in all faucets, so they should be maintained regularly. Reduced water pressure in kitchen faucets is common due to sediment clogging the aerator or problems with the faucet`s cartridge.
Usually, well water pulsates when there isn`t enough air pressure in the tank. The two parts that regulate this pressure are the electric pressure switch and the internal air bladder inside the water tank. If either of them is malfunctioning, this can cause the water from your taps to pulsate rather than flow steadily.
Unloader valve failure — Power lags also result from failed unloader valves. This problem can be diagnosed by manually enacting the valve function. Open the tank and drain out the air and water, then close and power back up. If the compressor bogs down once again, the valve needs to be replaced.

For example, failing check valves will start to vibrate and even lose some internal parts when problems begin to arise. Other symptoms of check valve failure include reverse flow and excessive component wear and damage. Check valves will also emit noises as they start to break down.
For example, a 100-foot, 1” hose delivering 100 CFM at 90 psi will result in a 3.35 psi pressure drop. If that same hose is tripled to 300 feet, the pressure drop is 10.1 psi, which means the air is now pressurized to only 80 psi.
When using a portable pressure washer, there is no need for any more than 100 feet of hose. With proper set up of the portable machine, you can easily get 200 feet of coverage because you are using two different hoses collectively. You could easily add an additional 50 foot spare hose for larger projects.
