Loosen the chain so it can be carefully moved by hand. If it moves pull out the spark plug. Sometimes oil and or fuel will collect in the cylinder and will cause this.

If the pull rope doesn`t retract, it`s likely that the spring inside the recoil starter is broken. The recoil starter can also fail to engage the engine when the rope is pulled. Replace the recoil starter if the spring breaks or if the recoil starter won`t engage the engine.
If your pressure washer is refusing to work or even turn on, the culprit could potentially be the power switches. Most pressure washers use two micro switches that disconnect both the live and neutral connections between the supply and the motor. These switches can jam cutting the power out from reaching the motor.
Seized car engine symptoms:
Fumes/smoke: since the engine can`t turn over, fumes, smoke, and even fire can happen – all of which are a sure sign of an engine seizure. Nothing: the most tell-tale sign of a seized engine is when nothing happens. When your car won`t start no matter how hard you try.
After the car sits for 24 hours, you may be able to unjam it with a breaker bar. If your engine seized because it`s been sitting too long, pull the spark plugs out of all the cylinders. Fill the cylinders with engine oil and let it sit for a few days. Then, try turning the engine over with a breaker bar.
If you`re looking to eliminate dirt or dust buildup on your patio or balcony, pressure washer soap is not required. It can still be used if you`d prefer, but it won`t be the end of all days if you don`t use it.
When disconnecting the appliance, unplug it from the wall outlet first, and then remove the cord from the appliance. Be sure to pull the plug, not the cord, because you could damage the wiring in the cord or its insulation.

My chainsaw starts when there is no bar and chain on it but when I put the bar chain and side casing back on tighten the chain and pull the starter cord it is hard to pull and then the chain goes loose again
Have you just replaced the chain? If so there is a possibility the chain and drive sprocket don’t match causing the engaging spurs to ride on the sprocket teeth
Chain saw won’t start – pull starter pulley hard to pull?
If it worked fine the last time you used it, then pull the spark plug and try pulling the rope. See if it’s easier or if gas shoots out of the plug hole. I’ve seen this happen when the diaphram in the carb goes bad from sitting over winter. It loads up the cylider with fuel and makes it very difficult to pull the rope. If there is no fuel in the cyliner and it’s still hard to pull, make sure there is nothing binding the clutch/sprocket. I’ve had chucks of wook lodged in there that caused it to bind the crank output, which resulted in a hard pull on the rope as well.
Chain saw chain is loose
Loosen the side cover nuts, then turn the adjuster CW to bring the chain up to the lower edge of the bar, then check to see if the chain will move fairly easily by hand. Tighten the clamp nuts and recheck tension. If chain seems to get loose quickly again, it may not be sharpened correctly causing heat to build in the chain. You should see no reflection of light from the cutting edges if filed correctly and the saw should require very little pressure for it to cut rapidly. Hope this helps!
Chainsaw chain sprocket won,t turn – Ryobi Factory Reconditioned 18" 40cc 2-Cycle Gas Powered Chain Saw #ZRRY10532
This seems to be a chain brake that’s applied , try turning off chain brake by pulling back on hand guard till a click is felt
some folks moving up from an older saw to a more modern saw are not so familiar with chain brakes and don’t understand them and how they work
Mower won’t start
This may sound stupid but don’t mean it to…
Have you tried with the choke all the way open? Do you have an automatic cruise? Is the right (correct) pedal being pushed in? These will affect if it starts or not. Also if your drive belt or one of the other belts not being tight enough will affect if it starts or just turns over. Not too many things can stope it from starting with new/good battery AND if its getting gas. Try cleaning your gas line and obviously making sure there is no obstruction around or near your blade, if it does start with blade engaged that is :))
If it doesn’t start with blade engaged, well make sure it’s in neutral. Mine won’t start in reverse but will in forward or neutral.
Hope it helps.
I KNOW THE SERIAL # BUT THE MODEL # IS WON OFF. HOW CAN I USE MY SERIAL # TO FIND THE MODEL #?
Take or call the saw shop and give them your serial # they should be able to tell you the model or take your saw down to the saw shop that sells your brand of saw and ask them. Good luck .
The chain is stuck on chain saw.
I can’t loosen it, it will not rotate when motor is on and the motor will not turn over the blade is stuck
I think the chain brake is tripped… Try pulling the part just ahead of the front handle aft as far as possible. It should click (don’t panic) as it locks into place. Does the chain rotate now? HTH
