How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

Light-duty trimmers, up to 3 A, 24 V or 20 cc, are great for small jobs, like grass tufts and thin weeds. Heavy-duty trimmers, over 56 V or 35 cc, are great for deep grass, stalky weeds and even brush and saplings.
Although 4-stroke string trimmers have a reputation for lower emissions, better fuel efficiency, and high torque output, 2-stroke trimmers have their own advantages: Lighter weight. Easier maintenance. Easier storage.
The rating for volts on a cordless trimmer and cubic centimeters (cc) on a gas trimmer indicates power output. Two-cycle engines on gas trimmers offer a good balance of power and weight but run on a blend of oil and gasoline.
4-stroke motors also have a crankcase and an oil distribution system that keeps the oil separate from the gas as it lubricates the engine components. Since the oil is separate, it also needs to be periodically changed—typically after every 25 hours of use.
How Do 4-Cycle Engines Work? Four-stroke (four-cycle) engines are newer and have a separate compartment for oil, so you don`t have to worry about mixing fuel. These engines are more fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly, while also giving you more torque when you need it.
Both engines use the combustion cycle to produce energy. The main difference between a 2- and 4-stroke engine is that a 4-stroke engine goes through four stages, or two complete revolutions, to complete one power stroke. A 2-stroke engine goes through 2 stages, or one complete revolution, to complete one power stroke.
Pull the spool out and unravel the old wire, but note how the wire was attached to the spool. Cut off 20–25 feet (6.1–7.6 m) of replacement string and attach it to the spool the same way the old string was attached. Reinstall the spool and put the cap back on to finish restringing your weed whacker.
Light: 0.065- to 0.080-inch line is best for trimming grass around the house and whacking down common lawn weeds from around driveways, walkways and fences. Medium: 0.080 to 0.110-inch line is best for homes with larger lawns, or gardens overgrown with weeds that have tough, heavy stems. Heavy: 0.110-inch and above.
You need to leave about six inches of string hanging from the spool when you are done adding your new string. You should use a heavy-duty pair of scissors to snip the string.
Most string trimmers have a cutting diameter of 10-15 inches, meaning that the optimal line length will be about half of that, minus the central part of the trimmer head. Most guards are equipped with a discreetly placed blade that cuts off the excess and prevents the line from getting too long.

The head won,t turn – Craftsman 25cc Gas Line Trimmer
ANSWER : You will need to pull the head off, as it sounds like the cable is off. there should be four bolts/screws, there maybe some in the middle also, gently remove the head(this is the top of the trimmer where the pull cord is, once you have it separated you can turn the cable by hand and the line feeder should rotate, if it does then look inside the head and make sure it is still square and not rounded. or you can pull the line feeder off and pull the cord and see if the cable rotates, whichever you feel comfortable with trying. Good Luck Tim

Trimmer runs but the head wont turn – Craftsman Convertible 25cc. Gas Line Trimmer
ANSWER : It may be that the drive shaft is broken, or not engaged to the engine. Make sure the trimmer attachment is locked all the way onto the shaft coming from the engine. If it still doesn’t work, check by seeing if any of the other attachments work when you put them on. If they do, you know the drive shaft in the trimmer attachment is probably broken.
