When I try to start the Auger,it starts smoking and smells like somethuing is burning. Snowblower is 3 years old,worked fine 2 weeks ago.

My auger and impeller froze too. fixed by clearing all snow, ice,stone build up behind impeller it works fine now.. hope that helps

Examine the Belts
One or more of the belts slipping off the pulleys can be the cause of a snowblower not throwing snow. If they can be put back around the pulleys snugly, that might be all it needs. But if the belts are stretched or broken, they absolutely need to be replaced.
Impeller freeze-up occurs when ice “welds” the impeller to the drum blocking the rotation of the impeller. Snow blowers are especially susceptible to freeze-up immediately after use when the machine is stored outside or in an un-heated garage where the tem- perature is below freezing.
If the auger doesn`t turn even though the main shaft is being powered and the shear bolts or pins are intact, then it`s likely the gears inside the gearbox have stripped and the gearbox assembly will need to be replaced.
Go ahead a place your hand on each auger in turn; they may move slightly; that`s normal, but they should not be free to spin. What is this? If you can spin it, your shear pin has sheared.
These components should all be touching the ground at the same time. If either the auger or wheels are not touching the ground, this means that the shave plate is adjusted too low and needs to be raised.
Damaged augers or impeller
The impeller works like a fan to propel the snow up and out of the chute. When these components are damaged, the snowblower won`t shoot snow out of the chute very far. Replace any damaged augers or the impeller if necessary.
If your auger keeps turning when the engine is idling, the carburetor may need to be adjusted. The clutch controls the movement of the auger by engaging them when the engine has reached a set speed.

When I went to start my craftsman model 247.88704 snow thrower, the pull handle rope came out. Can you tell me the best easy to put it back together?
ANSWER : On your pull rope housing youll find 3 to 4 bolts remove the housing inside youll find the place were the rope was tied in [ if it just came untied ] just rember to spin counter clock wise for your tinshion befor replaceing the rope then put back together

Electric Maztang mt 968 auger wont run – Yard Machines 28" Two-Stage Snowthrower
ANSWER : The motor runs but the auger does not , if so the bolt snapped in half from hitting something that you should have not hit , this is a normal thing so as to not blow up the engine , it is a safety feature in all snow blowers , just get the right bolt or make one grind it down to where it will break easy but will work the auger , they sell them on ebay for a couple bucks but I make mine

How do you put it in neutral
ANSWER : Does it have steering control triggers to turn it left or right…if so hold both at the same time with engine off and see if you can push it..Let me know if that works. Or let me know what kind of controls you have
