How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

This can happen when the mower has been left outside during heavy rains. Moisture can prevent the spark from going off, so you may need to check the spark plug and clean it from any moisture or condensation. Clean and dry the spark plug thoroughly and use a little sandpaper to get rid of any residue if necessary.
Whether you forgot to bring in your lawnmower during that afternoon shower or it was outside during days of rainy weather, it needs to dry out before it will run again. Moisture in a lawnmower`s carburetor, in its air intake ports or on its spark plug chamber prevents combustion, and the engine won`t start.
When you keep your lawnmower outside while it`s raining, the device will eventually start to rust. After a point of time, you will notice visible signs of corrosion on the deck of the lawnmower. Collectively, this will affect the blades, dulling them down.
Riding mowers are weatherproof, leaving them outside in a medium-size downpour won`t cause any major issues. However, riding mowers are not waterproof and power washing them indiscriminately may cause fuelling, ignition system, and bearing issues.
In wet weather, moisture can build up in the distributor cap and cause it to short, which will leave the vehicle without a reliable spark. It may also be possible that water is somehow coming into contact with the ignition system components when it rains, also causing a short.
The easiest way to tell if your engine is flooded with gas is to remove the spark plug. If it`s wet, it`s flooded and you`ll need to let the cylinder dry out before trying to restart. Compressed air can help speed up the process.
Often your nose can make the diagnosis: Flooded engines reek of unburned fuel. Park the mower on level ground, and wait about 15 minutes for the gas to evaporate. Then try starting it again, with the choke off.
Wet grass can do more than dull your blades — it can create other types of damage to your residential mower. In particular, if wet grass is not cleaned out properly after cutting, mold has a chance of growing on your wheels, undercarriage, and blades.
If there`s only a little fuel left after the last mow of the season, your best bet is to run the tank dry. If the tank is full or nearly full, disconnect the fuel line at the carburetor and drain the remaining gas into a gasoline storage container. (You can add the leftover fuel to your car.)
Grass clippings can get clogged in the mower deck, which can prevent the blade from turning. This is a common problem if you`ve cut wet grass or let the lawn get especially long and bushy between cuttings. If the cord is hard to pull, that`s a good sign that there`s debris clogging up your mower`s deck.
Give it a rest.

Wont start I charged the battery and all I’m getting is a clicking sound when trying to start
ANSWER : Your battery is junk. Replace it. Lead/acid batteries lose about 1% of their charge per day, so in 90 days of non-charging they are basically discharged. This is a bad thing. When winter comes, put a smart trickle charger on it, or at least once a month put a non-smart trickle charger on it for a couple hours or an afternoon so you keep it charged up.I love/hate batteries.
