The yellow fuel line is 3/32-inch ID x 3/16-inch OD x one foot long and the blue fuel line is 1/16-inch ID x 1/8-inch OD x one foot long. The fuel line fits Blowers, Chainsaws, Trimmers and other gas-powered equipment that use this size fuel line.
Replacing the fuel hose on your vehicle is going to take time and patience, and it could require getting underneath the car. It`s also going to take the right tools for the job.
Metal Lines
They are usually made from stainless, aluminum or coated steel tube. Metal is the best material for fuel lines.
Fuel line diameter matters A LOT! A larger diameter is generally better, but the correct diameter is the best choice. If the diameter is too small: you won`t be able to support your horsepower goal. If the diameter is too big: the lines will take longer to pressurize.
One option for replacing metal fuel lines is with a nylon tubing and specific fittings. Nylon tubing can be used for an entire length of fuel line or just a section. This option can be a cost-effective and time-efficient repair when pre-bent lines are not available.
car, yes, you can replace the low-pressure return metal line with rubber, doesn`t need to be high-pressure F.I. hose. There should be a rubber section where it connects to the tank, 7.5mm. 5/16″ will also work.
In terms of safety, plastic has a larger space between chemicals than rubber, so when a gas with small molecules such as liquefied petroleum gas is transported in a plastic hose, the gas molecules may penetrate through the hose. Such a leak is dangerous, and so plastic hoses may not be used for fuel gas.
NOTE: IF A HOSE DOESN`T HAVE A SAE J30- STANDARD ON THE SIDE, DON`T INSTALL IT IN A FUEL SYSTEM. SAE 30R6 hoses are designed for low-pressure applications like carburetors. These can also be used as an emissions hose. SAE 30R7 hoses are designed for fuel.
Durability: Metal fuel lines are generally more durable than rubber or braided fuel lines, as they are resistant to wear and tear and are not prone to cracking or deterioration. Rubber fuel lines can become hard and brittle over time, while braided fuel lines can be prone to leaks if the braid becomes damaged.
For most components such as a pre-fuel filter (aka fuel water separator) the thread type is typically NPT or NPTF and requires sealant around the threads.
Most modern chainsaws, string trimmers, leaf blowers and other small-engine two-stroke equipment recommend a 50:1 oil mix ratio, but some recommend 40:1 and older two-stroke equipment might even call for 32:1.
The common sizes for fuel systems are 1/8”, 1/4″, 3/8” and occasionally 1/2″. The 1/8” measures around 10mm, 1/4″ is around 13mm, 3/8” is around 17mm and 1/2” is around 21mm.

Replaceing fuel line in polan 3300 chain saw – Poulan Pro 42CC 2 Cycle Chainsaw, 18"
ANSWER : Hi owjbhend…
Use a piece of wire and insert it into the fuel line, then bend a hook in the end and hook it over the end of the fuel line…lubricate the fuel line with some vaseoline very lightly…about the first one inch of the fuel line and then use your fingers to start the fuel line into the tank, once you have the fuel line in the tank give enough to hook the fuel filter to and so it can be dropped back into the tank.
Below is a drawing of how to route the fuel lines.

Need to replace fuel lines on my Troy Bilt gas hedge trimmer. Where can I get replacement fuel lines… or better yet… what size are the lines and where can I buy a few feet of the lines. Note: I have reviewed the parts assembly and it would seem to indicate I have to replace the entire handle assembly (Part #1) instead of just buying replacement hose(s). Any help to resolve my issue would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance
ANSWER : Replacement fuel lines should be readily available at your local lawnmower repair shop. Your TroyBilt hedger uses fuel line that is 3/32″ (2.4mm) interior dimension, 3/16″ (4.8mm) outside dimension, with a 3/64″ (1.2mm) wall dimension.
Most manufacturers don’t offer replacement line, only fuel tank assemblies. Find your local shop, and try to get the TYGON brand…it is yellow. Tygon lasts the longest. You should be able to buy it by the foot for less than $2 per foot. You will need 2 feet of hose to replace both lines.
Make sure to clean the in-tank filter when replacing hoses.
Good luck.
Poulan 14″ chain saw will not start
ANSWER : Usually, the fuel filter gets gummed-up from leaving it in any kind of fuel for long periods of time. Fish it out of the tank and either clean it in spray-carburetor-cleaner or replace it. Check the condition of the fuel lines while you are at it. Proper storage is to drain the tank and run the engine until it stops. If still won’t run, the carburetor internals may need cleaning and re-kitting. Make sure the spark plug is firing correctly. Hope this helps!
Need to replace fuel line that goes into gas tank
ANSWER : You have to pull the fuel line through the hole in the tank because the hole is a little smaller than the fuel line, otherwise it would leak. Use a thin piece of wire, I use a tag wire, cut the fuel line at an angle on the end, stick a hole in it then stick the wire through hole in the tank and out the cap hole. Stick the wire through the line and twist it around itself and pull the line through.
Fuel line is bad and needs replaced. need to know
ANSWER : One line should be hooked to a small fuel filter or screen.
The other one is a dump or over flow that will put a small amount of unused fuel back into the tank.
You can buy this type of line at most Lawn Mower shops as a kit. 2 lines and a filer/screen.
You can use line for air shocks that fit some cars ie. Cadillac’s
Chain keeps falling off – Poulan 18" Chain Saw Replbar (small Saws)

Replaced fuel lines, will not stay runing with chock off
ANSWER : Obviously, additional air can be anywhere. Check all connections that are possible from the air filter to the cylinder.
Have a Mac 3214, fuel lines were rotten, replaced lines spark plug and air filter. Started saw ran fine. Shut off saw, heard a girgling sound took off carb cover had fuel filling carb above throttle blade, now saw will not restart. When I took off fuel cap fuel stopped coming in. Could I have a fuel or air circuit plugged or could my needle not be at the right height?
ANSWER : The fuel metering needle in the lower carburetor chamber may have a bad rubber tip or the rubber diaphragm may be hard or cracked. McCullough fuel tanks vent through the cap (it should not have a gasket). Gravity plays no part in the carburetor fuel volume. Remove the spark plug (ignition off) and pull the engine through a few times without the choke on, but the throttle wide open to remove excess fuel in the crankcase (no smoking during this procedure). Make sure the plug is dry when you put it back. Hope this helps!
