Without lubricant, the speed at which the chain moves over the chainsaw bar can cause some serious friction. A slowed-down chain and excessive fuel burning mean there`s a lot of friction between your bar and chain, which means a lot of heat is being produced that could do major damage to your saw.
If you run a chainsaw without bar oil, it`s likely that the chain will heat up and eventually break. This can cause extensive damage to the chainsaw and may even require a new chain and bar. It`s imperative that you use the correct amount of bar oil.
STIHL currently recommends that you do not store or use fuel older than 60 days, and preferably no longer than 30 days, even with a stabilizer. Read more about storing your outdoor power equipment.
Naturally, the chain of your chainsaw will need to be oiled well to function perfectly. To make sure that it functions well, grab some WD-40 Multi-Use-Product. WD-40 works great for both – rust prevention and lubrication.
Lubricate the chainsaw
When you put the chain back onto your chainsaw, you will have to lubricate it to clean it, using WD-40® Multi-Use Product. Before refitting the chain into the chainsaw, wipe off all the excess residue and then reattach it to the guide bar.
If you have a chainsaw that`s designed for two cycle and you forget to put two cycle in it and run straight gasoline well you won`t have a chainsaw for very long the rings will melt and seize up and then you`ll have to rebuild your whole chainsaw.
Absence of oil is damaging to an engine. When there is no oil between the parts, they will begin to come in contact with each other at high speed. It will take no time to destroy the engine. Within a matter of seconds, the engine will stop working and can get damaged.
The presence of oil and its distribution is absolutely crucial to an engines continued operation. Engines can work without oil, but the effect is so damaging they are only capable of running for less than 30 minutes until failing – and in most cases, it`s a lot quicker than that.

On a husqavarna 362 xp special 71cc chainsaw very little oil is coming out to the chain i have removed the chain and bar and cleaned and still very little oil is making it to the chain what should i do ??
ANSWER : Check to see if there is an oil-volume adjustment screw located near the lower part of the chain where it goes into the cover, but mounted in the main case. It might be underneath the case in about the same location. Turn it CCW somewhat, if found, and check for oiling by holding the bar tip running at speed near some cardboard. If properly oiled, it will throw off a thin line of oil after several moments. If there is no adjustment, then you will have to investigate the oil pump, lines, and filter/valve in the oil tank. Make sure to clean the small oil passages in the drive end of the bar. Hope this helps!

What kind of oil in the oil tank and how much for the remington electric pole saw ?
ANSWER : Bar & chain oil is the best. You can use regular or synthetic. Some say you can use atf (auto transmission fluid) or sae30 oil. I use bar & chain oil.

You will need “Chain and Bar” oil to lube the chain and bar. Special oil made just to lubricate the chain and bar as the chain is running.
For the engine you can use the low grade of gasoline…and 2 cycle oil.
Fuel mix…50 to 1 = 1pint of 2 cycle oil to 6 gallons of gasoline.

My husky 455 rancher is not oiling the chain properly. I have tried to clean all the oil ports on the bar and saw but it still is hardly pumping any oil to the chain. What could be the problem? How does the oiling system work?
ANSWER : The problem is very likely to be a clogged but more likely faulty internal oil pump (especially if your chainsaw is old).Hope it helps.

16″ Electric Chain Saw: what kind of oil is used for electric chain saw…
ANSWER : I assume you are asking about the oil for the chain. Any good quality “Bar and Chain Oil” will do fine. Do not use motor oil you use in your car engine as it will not properly lube the chain and will result in quicker dulling and early demise of the chain.
You can get the “Bar and Chain Oil” at most hardware stores or Farm Supply stores.

I have a husqvarna 137 chainsaw. The problem is with the bar oil. When the saw runs oil is flowing but where the rubber corner piece which allows the oil to flow out of appears to be just dripping the oil straight out. It looks like it should fill a small reservoir behind the metal plate and the oil then moves upwards where the chains drags the oil through the oil hole on the bar which is moving outwards as in the top chain on the bar. However the chain-brake area is just getting messy with oil splattering all over and the bar not actually getting oiled. I have fitted a new metal plate to see if the corner of the original was not sealing properly but that has not helped. The bar holes are clean. Any suggestions as I can’t see what it could be?
ANSWER : It’s the rubbers. I had the same problem with my 137 and 141. The rubbers shrink over time and the oil never makes it up the channel. The replacement part is one piece and less prone to leaking than the original 2 piece design.

Oil is not lubing the chain on bar, what would be causing it?
When using the chainsaw, the chainsaw siezes, and makes the engine run sluggish. The bar and chain we not is not getting oil. The oil reservoir is fulled.

ANSWER : Sounds like the ports on the bar are possibly clogged with debris or the oil lines going down to the bar are clogged. Check both of them to see if that might be the problem.
