Use carburetor cleaner to remove deposits, clogs & debris

Deposits inside the carburetor can clog fuel and air passages and reduce performance or stop the engine altogether. Luckily, you can take care of many of these problems quickly and easily; often without even removing the carburetor from the engine.

To complete this project, you`ll want to gather the following:
  1. Phillips head screwdriver.
  2. Flat screwdriver.
  3. Needle nose pliers.
  4. Wire brush.
  5. Wrench or socket set.
  6. Carb cleaner.
  7. Compressed air.
  8. Chemical dip (optional)

Spray liberally with carb cleaner – trying to direct the cleaner into the jets – and leave to soak for a few minutes. Use an air line (or a can of pressurised air, sold as an `air duster`) to blow through the jets. Repeat the previous step and this one until you can see no more gunge.
Use Carburetor Cleaner

Fortunately, you can generally do this without even taking the carburetor out of the engine. Start by purchasing some commercial lawnmower carburetor cleanerOpens a new window, which comes in a simple spray can and will make it easy to clean the inside and outside of the carb.

I was using the saw as a chain saw last weekend to cut up an old tree stump when the chain came off. I don’t know how to access it to put it back on and don’t have a user manual. The saw belonged to my late father and I don’t know if he even kept the manual.
ANSWER : You will have to remove the cover on the side the chain bar goes into. There should be one or two nuts holding the cover on the side. The is also a chain tension adjuster you may have to loosen to put it back on. Make note of the direction of the teeth on the chain. It is an directional chain. The tension adjuster is usually a flat head screw on the front side right beside the chain bar.Unless it is a really old saw, manuals are available from most manufacturers for free download. See if you can locate a brand name and model number.

How do you set the carburator back to factory specs. mine wont keep running
ANSWER : Basic settings can vary from model to model, a good starting point for most carbs is screw both H and L screw right in ,then back the H screw out 1 turn and the L screw 1 and1/4 turns, the machine should run well enough to fine adjust from there, they are both fuel screws, so the more you unscrew them the richer the saw becomes, always remember if there in another under lying problem adjusting the carb screws will not always help, before any adjustment clean or replace the fuel filter in the fuel tank.
