Turn the idle screw — I — clockwise until the chain starts to spin, then turn it counterclockwise slightly. Adjust the screw to find the highest setting possible without making the chain spin. Check the setting by holding a digital tachometer over the spark plug. It should read between 2,700 and 2,900 rpm.
L-Limit Screw Adjustment

Similar to the H screw setting, make the L screw too tight and back it out slightly until it is just right. This will provide the most protection from the derailleur shifting the chain beyond the largest cog and into the spokes. Shift the chain to the next to largest chainring in front.

If your carburettor has a main jet adjustment screw at the base of the float bowl, turn the screw clockwise until you feel it just touch the seat inside the emulsion tube. Then, turn the screw counterclockwise 1 to 1-1/2 turns. Replace the air cleaner assembly and start the engine for final carburettor adjustments.
Set the idle screw so that the engine is idling at a normal RPM. Take a small screwdriver and start turning one bleeder screw on one side of the carb inward until the idle either drops or rises. If it drops, you are going the wrong way, so turn it the other way until the you hear the engine`s idle rise back up again.
Find the adjustment screws on the front of the carburetor.

There should be two screws on the front of the carburetor, which are used to adjust the air and fuel mixture. These often look like flat-head screws, and you can use a screwdriver to turn them, adjusting the amount of fuel and air mixing in the carb.

Chain saw engines run at approximately 12,000 RPM, which means the crankshaft does 12,000 revolutions per minute and for every revolution of the crankshaft the piston does an upstroke and down stroke and the saw draws in and expels air on each stroke.
Shimano and SRAM call it the “low limit screw” and mark it with “L” – the rear derailleur is in its lowest position and at the gear with the lowest ratio. To make the adjustment, shift into the lightest gear.
They are designed to secure objects by removing materials while simultaneously creating helical grooves. Fine adjustment screws serve this same purpose, but they feature a unique design that distinguishes them from other types of screws.
noun A screw by which the adjustable parts of an instrument or a machine are moved to required positions. It also often serves to hold the parts firmly in those positions.
H & L screws limit movement on the rear dérailleur. The rear dérailleur should never be allowed to move inside the inside face of largest cog, this risks the chain getting caught between the spokes and rear cog. Once this happens you may need to rebuild your rear wheel.
Adjusting the L screw clockwise can cause the chain to engage while the saw is idling. Adjusting the H screw clockwise increases the maximum speed of the engine and can cause damage to your saw`s engine if its operating capacity is exceeded.

What is correct adjustment for high and low scews
ANSWER : With the saw warmed up adjust the low for best idle.Adjust the high for best speed then adjust a little richer from that point.Caution……Running at best speed (power) settings which is “lean” will 90% of the time burn the piston……thats why you go a little richer on that setting.

Mcculloch power mac 310 chainsaw Carb adjustments
ANSWER : The idle adjustment screw will probably have a spring on that screw and
will push directly on the throttle linkage. You just adjust this screw
until the engine idles like you want it to. I believe on saws, they have
to idle to where the clutch will not engauge when the engine is at
idle. As for the mixture screws the low speed screw (L) you adjust when
the engine is at idle, the high speed screw (H) you adjust while the
engine is running with a good bit of throttle. Once you get the idle
speed where you like it, then all you have to worry about is the mixture
screws. When adjusting the screws, just listen to the engine, to much
one way and the engine will run rough and sputter, to much the other way
the engine will run rough and maybe start hunting (reving up and down).
One thing to check on these small 2-strokes is that the air filter and
the muffler are not clogged cause if they are, then you would be having
to adjust the carburetor to make up for the air restrictions that these
two problems can cause which would mean that the carburetor isn’t
actually adjusted perfectly.

How do you adjust high, low, and throttle on echo 3400 chainsaw
ANSWER : Ok, this is an easy job, and a quick tune up. First start up your saw, rev it some so it warms up. Next, make sure your saw idles, if not just turn up the idle a bit first before this. With your saw idling on the ground, turn the L screw about 1 turn either side of where it is, and listen to obtain the fastest and smoothest idle, that takes care of the L screw. Now the H screw must be adjusted while the the saw is at full throttle, turn the H screw and listen for maximum and smoothest engine speed. I sugest this be done with the chain and bar removed from the saw. After you adjust the L and H, then adjust idle to suit.

Poulan stalls out
ANSWER : On the side of the carb you should find two screws, one for the low speed jet nd one for he high speed jet. Turning the low speed jet only about a 1/4 turn at a time, adjust it in or out until it idles smoothly. Go to arboristsite.com, chainsaw and do a search on tuning for more complete info.

Need to locate chain & bar oiler adjustment screw for mac 3200 chain saw
ANSWER : Look to the lower left side of the bar (as you hold the saw normally)–there should be a screw head in the engine case there. Check the adjustment by holding the bar tip at speed near a piece of cardboard for a couple of moments–it should throw off a thin line of oil. Hope this helps!
