I suspect that the diaphragm in the fuel pump part of the carb has a leak. When I try to prime the carb, the fuel leaks back down into the tank. Hoses don’t leak, but the carb does. I took it apart, and the diaphragm a deposit of goop, and maybe a rip.
Anyway, I can’t figure out what make and model the carb is. I think it’s a Zama, but I’m not sure.

Machine:
Homelite Vac-Attack leaf blower
Model: UT08544
s/n: BHJ1951915   (07-14-06)

30cc      Family: 6HCPS.0304BL

I appreciate any info.
Thanks-Tony De Camillo

I have seen 2 different carburetors used on this unit. A Walbro and a Zama. You will need to get the information off the carb. (Walbro WYC-10 or Zama K39A) are the two I have seen, but you need to be sure what yours is. Then purchase the correct O/H kit and rebuild it.

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

The carburetor mixes fuel and air in the right proportions so that the spark plug can ignite the mixture inside the cylinder, powering the engine. If the leaf blower engine won`t start even though there`s fuel in the tank, the carburetor could be the problem.
Carburetor. A clogged or dirty carburetor can prevent your leaf blower`s gas engine from firing properly or even starting at all. Depending on the model, cleaning it can be as easy as removing an external panel and spraying a few bursts of carb cleaner into the choke.
Engine Type: 2-Cycle vs.

All backpack leaf blowers depend on a small gas engine for power. That means that the engine in your blower may be one of two kinds: 2-cycle engine. 4-cycle engine.

Blower carbs are specially designed for the job. Trying to run a blower without boost-referenced carbies is just asking for trouble. Boost-referencing is basically a way of ensuring enough fuel is added for the larger quantity of air the charger is forcing in, to prevent the engine from running lean.
Carburetors are used to mix fuel and air together before sending the mix into the engine cylinders for ignition, powering the vehicle. The carburetor sits atop the engine block beneath the air filter, and operates using a combination of vacuum power and cable control.
Similar to a walk-behind mower, the carb is located below or behind the air filter. You`ll have to remove the filter and the air filter housing to access it. Once you remove the air filter housing, you can identify the carburetor by following the fuel line from the gas tank to the carb.
Like other gas-powered tools, handheld gas leaf blowers can be built using two types of engines: 2-cycle engines. 4-cycle engines.
The 25cc, 2-cycle gas engine is lightweight and powerful with high-performance air volume and air speed up to 430 cfm/200 mph.
External rotor motors — also called cup motors — are brushless dc motors that differ from traditional motor designs employing permanent magnets. They excel in driving an array of blower and fan applications.
Run the engine for five minutes at half throttle to bring it to its operating temperature. Then, turn the idle mixture screw slowly clockwise until the engine begins to slow. Turn the screw in the opposite direction until the engine again begins to slow. Finally, turn the screw back to the midpoint.
A carburetor`s job is to supply an internal combustion engine with air/fuel mixture. Carburetors regulate the flow of air through their Main bore (Venturi), this flowing air draws in fuel and the mixture enters the engine via the intake valve.
In general, a car carburetor is useful for adjusting the amount of fuel and air mixture that enters the engine cylinder. Air bleeder is one of the parts in a carburetor that is used as a place for mixing fuel with air so that it can produce a smooth mist.
It is the job of the carburetor to regulate how much fuel and air gets mixed so that you get the proper combustible mixture. It is also the job of your carburetor to control your engine speed. Your throttle controls the speed by controlling how much of this air and fuel mixture is allowed to get into your engine.

I am not getting a spark
ANSWER : No spark can be a bad switch *(need to go in and unplug it from the ignition module and retest) or your ignition module has given up the ghost.

Get a t-handle set and go online and look up the parts. A module might cost more than a new unit….I think we both know what that means! Be safe and good luck!

I have a Toro 51598 electric leaf blower. Last year a breaker in the electrical box tripped and the blower naturally stopped. But, the episode seemed to have damaged the variable-air-flow-dial which on the blower – it was either on or off, nothing inbetween worked. This year, after some solid hours of operation, it just stopped working regardless of where where the variable-air-flow-dial was set. It is worth replacing that variable-air-flow-dial and some related components, or is there likely something else wrong with it? The bushings seem fine.
ANSWER : These machines are considered “disposable” items and most service centers won’t even repair them, saying that it is not “cost effective.” I have never come across a parts list for one other than maybe the plastic housing on them (they may exist), but costwise you may be better off getting another tool unless the Toro is still under warranty.
