Assuming you have the nut/washers removed, a small amount of WD 40 on the shaft and GENTLY pry it off with whatever 2 tools you have on hand, 180 opposite each other. The only thing holding it on is a little corrosion.

I have a BRIGGS AND STRATTON QUANTUM XTS 60 push mower and have broken the starting cord. Can you advise how to replace. It would appear that the recoil section of the starter is pop rivetted onto the main section. Do you have to drill the rivets out and replace them after the cord is replaced or is there another way.
ANSWER : NO! Do not drill out the rivets. You need to remove the entire blower cover with 4 bolts (2 up front, 2 in back)I’m going to link you to my two favorite “How-To” videos. Depending on your machine, one of these will show you enough to do it yourself. Once you do one, You’ll be a pro. Want to replace the seal on a water way SD-10-2N11CC
ANSWER : Open up the pump volute/housing body, unthread the impeller from the motor shaft. then remove the seal & replace it. NOTE*** ensure that the round doughnut part, dark color, of the seal half (with the spring looking thing) touches the white part of the other half. Most people when changing the seal, believe that the rubber parts of both halves need to touch. that is WRONG. Reinstall and assemble everything back in reverse.

Trying to replace the pull cord , can’t get last housing off to get to coile up old cord , the shaft has a nut on the end that the auger screws into but i cannot get that piece off as there is no where to put a wrench to stop the turning of the engine shaft so i can torque the nut in the other direction to get it off , what do i do to get this pull cord replaced?

ANSWER : You may have wrapped it the wrong way. If not, your spring is either broken, the bend on the end which slides into the plastic has straightened, or the plastic spool has broken where it holds the other bent end of the spring.
