Locate the oil adjuster screw on the bottom of the chainsaw. Turning this screw will adjust the oil feed rate. Turn the screw clockwise to increase the oil feed. Turn the screw counterclockwise to decrease the oil feed.
With a narrow flat-tipped screwdriver, adjust the oil flow. To increase the oil flow, turn the automatic oiler adjustment screw counterclockwise.
STIHL recommends that you do not run your engine at wide open throttle without a load. A blower is under a load at all times, a trimmer is under a load as long as the trimmer head is in place and the line is to the correct length, while a chainsaw is under a load when the bar and chain are in a cut.
The letters on the screws represent High (H), Low (L) and Idle (T). The H screw regulates the Air/Fuel mix during high RPMs, while the L Screw does the same during low RPMs. The T screw regulates how much fuel is sent to the carburettor while idling until the throttle is pressed.
This is how it works

Turn the little adjusting knob above it anti-clockwise to slacken the chain, or turn the knob clockwise to tension the chain. The guide bar is automatically secured in place when the sprocket cover is re-tightened.

If your chainsaw is using too much bar oil, you may need to clean the bar and chain and rid it of built-up dirt and debris. You can do this by spraying a degreaser onto the bar and chain and letting it sit for a few minutes before wiping them clean with a rag.

Professional saws and larger displacement saws will have the feature.

To much oil comes out of the chain oiler – Poulan Pro 42CC 2 Cycle Chainsaw, 18"
ANSWER : Look for an oil volume adjustment screw located near the lower chain run, but on the main case rear or maybe underneath the case in the same area. Turn the screw CW to decrease flow. Remove the bar and chain to make sure the small oil passages in the drive end of the bar are not plugged. When everything is back together, run the saw tip near some cardboard at speed for a moment or two. It should throw off a thin line of oil onto the board. Hope this helps!

My chainsaw is not getting any oil to the chain.how can it be fixed.
ANSWER : First off, take off the bar and chain, clean up the grooves and the small oiling holes in the bar. Then without the bar on, start the saw, see if oil comes out of the oiling hole, if not, dump the oil out of the saw, put some gas in, rinse out well, spray brake cleaner works well, too. Refill with oil and see if its oiling yet, make sure to check if it has an adjustable oiler, open it up a bit if need be. Use only bar and chain oil, not car oil!

ANSWER : Check to ensure the oil opening on the side of the saw housing is not plugged as well as the matching oil groove in the guide bar first.
