The blade belt spins the blades to cut the grass. A worn or broken drive belt won`t spin the cutting blades so your mower won`t cut the grass. A worn blade belt can also cause mower deck vibration or uneven cuts. Examine the blade belt regularly and replace it if it`s worn or broken.
Loose, Dirty or Disconnected Spark Plug in Your Lawn Mower: Check it out, clean off debris, re-connect and tighten. Dirty Air Filter: Clean or replace. Fuel Not Reaching the Engine: Tap the side of the carburetor to help the flow of gas. If this doesn`t work, you might need a new fuel filter.
For most effective results, a lawn mower deck should have a pitch, or height difference of 1/8-inch to 1/2-inch between the front of the deck to the back of the deck. Naturally, this makes the sweet spot about 1/4-inch of pitch, depending on the mower model.
Use Carburetor Cleaner

Fortunately, you can generally do this without even taking the carburetor out of the engine. Start by purchasing some commercial lawnmower carburetor cleanerOpens a new window, which comes in a simple spray can and will make it easy to clean the inside and outside of the carb.

The symptoms that indicate a bad solenoid on a riding mower are difficulty starting the engine, engine stalls or shuts off suddenly, reduced engine power and performance. Moreover, it would also go through a decrease in fuel efficiency, and an unsteadiness in idling, lastly, the engine cranks but doesn`t start.
A clogged fuel filter is most commonly caused by leaving old fuel in the lawn mower. Over time, some of the ingredients in the fuel may evaporate, leaving behind a thicker, stickier substance. This sticky fuel can clog up the fuel filter and make the engine hard to start.
The top setting for most mowers gives a cutting height between 3.25 and 4 inches. This is best for your lawn, but at a setting of 4 inches you may sometimes see some “laying-over” of turf blades that some people find undesirable. For this reason, some people prefer to mow at 3 or 3.5 inches.
Being Overworked. One of the most common reasons that a lawn mower might stall while it is cutting grass is that it is being overworked. This is a mechanism that is intentionally incorporated into the mower to prevent the motor from being blown.
A dull blade is the number one reason for leaving uncut grass. The blunt blade will damage your lawn in no time at all; it tears the grass and leaves a jagged edge which turns the grass tips yellow. The recommended way to repair the yellow grass damage – regularly cut with a sharp lawnmower blade.
You might have contaminated gas in the mower. Drain out the old gas. Change the fuel filter. Get new gas, non-ethanol if possible.
One of the most common reasons why property owners choose to cut their grass as low as possible, is because they are attempting to save time and reduce the amount of labor needed for maintaining their lawn.

Blade replacement i can’t get my blade off my toro push mower to have it replaced/sharpened. I’m sure its reversed threads, but is there something else i should be doing?
ANSWER : I am sure you will find it turns normally. The problem is that these things normally are done up very tight, and as they are mowing wet grass and there is moisture in grass, the bolts can rust and siexe up a fair bit.
Fair chance you will need a bit of strength on it, but you will also need a well-fitting spanner or the nut will strip.
Also you need to be careful you don’t bang your knuckles when it does give – with the force required you can get hurt.
Maybe use a piece of pipe over the spanner to give you more leverage will help too.
