How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

If it`s not clean or adjusted properly, the pressure washer burner won`t ignite. The first thing you need to do is loosen the screws, pivot the igniter back, and take the fuel line and the retaining nut off to allow the electrode to come out of the burner box for inspection.
Air Flow Restriction

If your coil is a “pancake” style, chances are the restriction of air flow is caused by build up. Soot can create a block, causing the unused fuel to burn hotter than it should be. If you are having this issue, clean off your coil.

Ensure the nozzle and spray gun connections are tight. Check the nozzle, spray gun and inlet screens for clogs. Check the O-rings and replace them if they`re damaged or dirty. Unfurl the pressure washer hose reel and check the hose for twists, kinks and leaks.
Smoking pressure washers indicate the machine is not properly burning the fuel. When fuel is not burning correctly the unit will build up soot in the coil. Soot build up on the heat exchange coil is a symptom of an ill-maintained burner.
Check for loose or burnt wiring

The stovetop will need to be lifted up to check the wiring and connectors for damage. If the wiring or connectors are damaged, they will need to be replaced. A loose connection could also be causing the burner not to work, so you should check that the connectors are not loose as well.

One of the most common causes for weak or uneven flames on your gas cooktop is because the burner head has grown dirty. It is something that can easily happen over time. The burner head is surrounded by small slots that allow the gas to be let out and ignited to produce flames.
Many pressure problems begin and end at the unloader. A cracked o-ring, dirt caught in the spring or a stuck shaft are the most common issues solved by simply removing the unloader and cleaning/looking for issues.
Surging occurs when the pressure is fine and then weakens. It is caused when the flow rate for the pump cannot be supported by the water supply. Problems can mount from there so it is important that it is dealt with as soon as possible.
Gasoline that sits in your pressure washer for more than six months becomes oxidized and contaminated. Degraded gasoline loses volatility and octane, causing lack of combustion, poor engine performance or a failure to start.
The number one cause of low or no pressure when using a pressure washer is a blocked or worn nozzle. Blocked nozzles will prevent water from escaping, while a worn nozzle will allow too much water to pass through, causing the pressure to drop.
If you have too much sediment buildup, you`ll hear a hissing noise when the trapped water overheats, turns to steam, and pushes upward to escape from the sediment forcefully. Eventually, this buildup can cause tears and leaks in your tank if you don`t address it (which we`ll explain later).
Steam coming from your boiler can indicate one of three things: You Have a Leak in Your Boiler or Pipes. Your Pressure Relief Valve Is Not Working Properly. Your Boiler Is Over Pressurized.
Bad Burner

To determine whether the burner is bad, simply unplug a working burner from another block, plug it into the block of the malfunctioning burner and turn on the switch. If the replacement burner gets hot, it`s time to replace the burner in question. You don`t need to unplug the stove to conduct this test.

Sometimes when you try to ignite the burner, you can hear a clicking noise and see sparks, but the gas doesn`t ignite. The reason this happens is that the gas supply is partially blocked.
Your gas cooktop might not ignite properly if spilled food or dirt is clogging the ignition nozzles. Ignition may also fail if the nozzles, burner caps or ports are wet after cleaning. Dry the cooktop and the burner tops thoroughly after cleaning them.
Check your furnace or boiler.

Simply installing a clean filter can resolve the problem. Be sure all registers are open and not obstructed. Next, look for the reset button on the furnace control module. If it is popped, the problem with your furnace not running could be fuel related.

If your oil boiler is running but not heating, this may be due to a clogged burner nozzle. The nozzle has an extremely small opening that can become obstructed with mineral deposits or dirt, due to age or contaminated oil.
Possible causes: The furnace could need resetting. Other possible causes include a faulty connection in the thermostat, a pilot flame in need of cleaning, a switch that`s been turned off or problems with a gas valve.
