How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?
We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
It`s time for your rattan furniture to take a little break. Now, here`s the golden tip: bringing your furniture indoors during this time is a game-changer for its longevity. Harsh weather, temperature fluctuations, and excessive moisture can wreak havoc on your beloved rattan.
Disassembling
However, larger rattan sofa sets, which often come with glass-topped coffee tables and seat cushions, should be disassembled and packed separately first. This effectively prevents damage and makes the whole piece of furniture easier to move.
Outdoor rattan furniture out on the market is suitable for outdoor use and can be left outside all year round, however with any item of rattan furniture, keeping it covered can prevent build up of dirt clotting between the rattan weave or staining the cushions.
How long does and should it last? PE rattan is known for its weatherproof qualities, resistance to rain, snow, frost, and even UV rays. Hence, most garden sets made using this material often last between 5-7 years.
If taken care of properly, rattan furniture can last up to 10 years. On top of being waterproof, resin weave rattan furniture is also resistant to UV rays so you shouldn`t expect to see much fading or wear and tear in warmer weather.
Rattan furniture can be left outside, but we always suggest to either; leave it inside, or fully protect it with a weatherproof shield cover.
Chalk paint is considered one of the best options when painting rattan projects. Oil-based paint is another popular pick as it works for both indoor and outdoor pieces. A paint sprayer or spray paint cans are also usually included for the sake of convenience.
Loose strands of rattan or cane can just be glued back into place with Superglue. If there are pieces of weave missing, replace with new material, usually available from a craft outlet. Cut the old strands out back to good cane.

How do I replace a broken chain bar locating pin/bolt on a McCulloch 540e petrol chainsaw?
ANSWER : The bar bolt is a stepped stun, it is screwed into the bar pad, you will have to grap it with a suitable pair of grips and undo it like a srew ( right hand thread, counter clockwise as you look at it ) you can then replace it with a new stud.
While repairing broken starter rope rewind spring popped out. need instructions to rewind and reinstall. judy
ANSWER : Re winding starter springs is a real black art, and not for the faint hearted, always wear eye protection before attemping this, hook the end of the spring into the cover, now start winding the spring in one coil at a time, keep your thumb on the coils that you have already wound in to stop them popping out, keep winding it in and turning the cover as well to aid you.Eventually you will come to the last centre coil which should just drop in.
Good luck
How do i replace stud bolts that tighten the bar
ANSWER : If this is the plastic crankcase machine, the bar bolts are pressed into the case, start by removing the muffler, use a punch and drive the broken stud back through the case, it will have a square head on the rear, re fit the new stud, use a spscer and the bar nut to pull the new bolt fully back through.
The rewind spring is broken on my TROY-BILT model 566 mulching mower. The spring is on the underside of the spool (resembles a pulley) that the starter pull cord winds onto. I wasn’t able to find this part in the diagram and parts list of my mower. Anyone know where I can find the spool and spring?
ANSWER : What make is the “engine”, find this out and get back to me.
Clutch engages to start engine but wont move F or R
ANSWER : Could be one of two things – if the clutch pedal just kinda flops and doesn’t spring back, the clutch tensioner spring has broken. lift the hood and look at the frame on the front, right side, you’ll probably see what’s left of the spring hook hanging there – not easy to replace if you’ve never done it, take it to a shop – OR, an idler on the drive belt pivot has fallen off or broken…easier, but still some work. the small clunk you heard has me leaning toward the spring
Pump don’t work property
ANSWER : This kind of pump uses an impeller (like a fan). If you test the suction when it is running dry (that is, you are just pumping air) then the amount of suction that an impeller can create is pretty small. However, if the pump is pumping water, and you put your finger over the inlet hose (while it’s under water) you should feel a great deal of suction. If the problem is that you have clog on the output side of the pump, you will still feel plenty of suction when pumping water. However, if there is a problem with the impeller (like maybe the blades are broken off or worn down) then you won’t feel much suction, even under water.
I hope you find this helpful.

Need to redo pull starter spring
ANSWER : Normally the spring doesn’t just sprung, it usually breaks. The springs on these engines are bent backwards on both ends so that they catch on to pieces on both the housing and the starter pulley. I would need to see a picture of the unit you have so that I know which screws to tell you to remove. Homeline trimmers are the cheapest on the market and they are very hard to get parts for. Some times if the spring is broken at the ends, we can heat the spring up until it is cherry red and then put a new bend in it and it will work fine. Other times this will not work. Just depends on the unit or where the break in the spring is. If you try and bend the spring with out heating up the metal, you will just break the spring again. So be sure to heat the spring up with a lighter or propane tourch.
Had broken gas line, fixed it and now want crank, put new plug in
ANSWER : Check fuel flow to the engine. Make sure fuel line to the carb has fuel filter on the in-tank end and that it is clear. Make sure there is spark at the plug. Make sure your air filter is clean. Make sure the bolts to the engine cylinder and the lower crankcase cover are good and tight. If all the above check out OK, then you may need to remove the carb and clean it. Possible small fuel line particles entered the carb after it broke so the carb may need to be partially disassembled and cleaned. Post back as needed.
