a decent sized piece of cement, but mower worked still after I removed the small chunk (about 4 inches; I didn’t chisel it down to dust, just hit it and stopped to move it) of cement.
A little after it stopped. Ran out of gas. Refueled, but flooded it.
It started, but was very weak. (I’m thinking because it was flooded with gas). After about15 of hoping to clean out the excess gas, it wouldn’t start. I tilted it sideways to let the gas drain to the ‘normal’ level. (Drained about 2-3 times before it hit ‘normal’ level)

TODAY
I try again. No luck on it starting. So I tilt it forward to try and see underneath.
Set back up right, and it begins leaking oil from the side (where the holes are).

HELP!!! Dx
This is my girlfriend’s family’s mower. And I’m short of cash.

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

Disconnected, dirty or fouled spark plugs are common causes for engines that won`t start. For small engines, spark plugs typically need to be replaced every season or after 25 hours of use. You should also check to make sure the spark plug gap is set correctly.
Loose, Dirty or Disconnected Spark Plug in Your Lawn Mower: Check it out, clean off debris, re-connect and tighten. Dirty Air Filter: Clean or replace. Fuel Not Reaching the Engine: Tap the side of the carburetor to help the flow of gas. If this doesn`t work, you might need a new fuel filter.
If your Briggs & Stratton engine has a spark but won`t run, then it is most likely a problem with the gas or air intake in the engine. The spark on the spark plug ignites the gas in the piston, but if the air filter is clogged or the gas can`t flow, then the engine won`t start.
The buying spree lacked strategic focus and ultimately failed to turn around the company`s decline. Rather than investing in research and innovation, Briggs` management tried to buy success while continuing to enrich its executives and stockholders.
Typically, there`s a 12:1 or 15:1 ratio of air to fuel, and when there`s too much air or not enough fuel, it causes sneezing or popping sounds in the intake.
To check fuel delivery, remove the fuel line where it enters the carburetor and use a length of rubber hose to direct the flow into bottle or similar container. Fuel should pulse out in strong spurts if your engine is equipped with a mechanical fuel pump (electric fuel pumps are more of a steady stream).
If you pull the cord and hear your engine turn over, but your mower is not starting, the most common reasons for this are low fuel, a broken gas valve, or a bad choke fault. A broker spark plug could also be the culprit. You may also have to change the fuel pump if it does not get fuel to the ignition system.
When your engine cranks but won`t start or run, it could mean your engine is having trouble producing a spark, getting fuel, or creating compression. The most common causes are problems in the ignition (for example, a bad ignition coil) or fuel system (for example, a clogged fuel filter).

ANSWER : Hi there,
When you got it running immediately after the hit on the cement was it running normally? Similar power to before, or a bit rough?
Briggs & Stratton put an aluminium key between the flywheel and the crankshaft, so if you hit something big and stop the engine instantly it doesn’t shear the shaft, just the key.
If it’s only partially shorn it could still run, but with the timing a few degrees out.
The oil leak is most likely from tipping the motor forward.
The oil gets past the valves and pours into the combustion chamber.
We were told in the small engine workshop to never tilt a B&S side valve motor any way up than cylinder head up (that’s the front, or spark plug side on this machine), or carburettor side up.

You’ll need to either check/replace the key yourself if you have the skills to remove the flywheel, then you’ll need to take out the spark plug (probably oiled up) and clean out the cylinder with some petrol / ether or similar, while pulling the pull start, before replacing the plug with a new one.
