How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?
We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
If your lawn mower battery won`t hold a charge, verify connections are clean and tight first, then connect it to the charger. If it isn`t fully charged within 8 hours, your battery is dead and you`ll need to replace it. If your lawn mower battery does charge fully, the charge should not drain if it is not in use.
One of the most common reasons the battery light comes on and the car battery stops charging is because of corrosion. Whether the corrosion is on the battery cables or cable terminals, it is still a problem that needs to be addressed. Another common culprit for the battery not charging is a problem with the alternator.
For the easiest alternator test, simply turn on the headlights to your lawn mower or outdoor power equipment. Then, turn off the engine. If the lights dim, the alternator works. If not, it doesn`t.
A smart charger will recharge a lawn mower battery in hours. Adjust the voltage and amp settings if you`re charging a 6-volt lawn mower battery instead of a 12-volt one.
You can also attempt to recover the battery by overcharging the fully charged battery using a low amp trickle charger. Charge the battery for 24 hours using a regulated current of 200mA (milliAmps). This will boost the battery`s terminal voltage to 2.50-2.66 volts per cell and raise the battery`s internal temperature.
The most common reasons for a phone failing to charge are: A faulty cable, charger, socket or adapter. Dirt or debris in the charging port. Third party apps interrupting the charging process.
The Wiring Harness had diodes in place to prevent the coils from grounding to one another. Without the wiring harness the kill switch will not work or if the diode goes out on one side then the engine may continue to run.
Briggs & Stratton/Vanguard OEM, 16A, voltage regulator works similar to an alternator by providing a low-voltage recharge for the battery while the engine is running. The engine stator produces 28V of AC electricity that goes into the the two yellow wires, the regulator changes this to 12V of DC electricity.
One issue is loose cables where they connect to the battery posts. A loose connection makes a battery work harder, thereby draining it of power more quickly. Cleaning the posts and tightening the connections should renew the battery`s ability to hold a charge. A larger problem is a cracked battery case.
The factors that keep draining your lawn mower battery include damaged, loose, or corroded cables, an electronic drain, or cables that are attached loosely. Sometimes, it is as simple as the battery needing some maintenance. Other plausible reasons are faulty alternators, voltage regulators, and battery chargers.
If you are using a 10-amp charger, your mower`s battery should charge in approximately one hour. Of course, connecting the battery to a lawn mower battery charger that has fewer amps may extend charging time.
Batteries lose their charge over a period of time, usually three to four weeks in the case of lawn mower batteries. Waiting long periods between uses may be enough to drain the battery sufficiently that it will not restart the mower. Even a small loss of charge is enough to make starting difficult if not impossible.

Hi there, quick question, there is a black and grey wire on the 13.5hp briggs and stratton, i am unsure which is the earth and which is the power?
The grey one should get power when the key is turned on. This opens the solenoid valve on the carb and lets fuel in. The black one should get earthed when the key is turned off, this shorts out the coil and stops the spark. Aussie Steve.
