How Do I Locate the Engine Model Number on My Snow Blower? The engine model number is usually a number stamped into metal directly on your engine. It may be stamped onto the left side of the overhead valve cover, the metal shield below the muffler, or the cylinder shield on the side of the engine.
The average snow blower tune-up is around $225 to $250.
Augers – Rotating paddles or serrated metal blades. Single stage snow blowers use rubber paddles to collect and throw snow in one motion, while two stage models have metal serrated augers that cut through deeper snow to feed the impeller.
A “snow thrower” refers to a single stage snow removal machine that picks up the snow in one motion and throws it out the chute with the continuation of that movement. The term “single stage” describes the fact that the snow is thrown in one single movement. A “snow blower” refers to a two stage snow removal machine.
Modern snowblowers are made with 4-stroke engines, but if you have a cherished snowblower from years ago, you`ve dealt with trying to get the perfect fuel mixture for a 2-stroke engine.
The 1st three numbers of your serial number will always provide your manufacture date. The 1st number is the YEAR of manufacture; the 2nd & 3rd numbers indicate the MONTH of manufacture.
A dual-stage snowblower often has multiple drive pulleys. One or more belts are used to drive the auger transmission (consisting of both the auger and the impeller), and another belt is used to drive the self-propelled wheels. When the auger drive handle is engaged, a pulley applies tension to the auger drive belts.
The blades or paddles that rotate inside the snow blower housing are called the augers. Single stage snow blower augers are rubber paddles.
