How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

The chainsaw chain should feel snug but still pull freely. Finally, perform a “snap” test to ensure proper saw chain tension. Simply pull the chain on the underside of the guide bar down so one or two drive links are out of the guide bar rails and release it. The chain should snap directly into position.
One of the most common reasons why the chainsaw chain gets loose so fast is because of wear off caused by time and usage. If you are using an old chainsaw, you will notice that the chain gets loose very frequently thanks to wear on both the chain and the sprockets.

The chain may not have the proper amount of tension. If the adjustment screw is too loose, the chain may not make good contact with the wood. If the chain is too tight, the chain may not rotate at the proper speed, causing the chain not to cut properly. To adjust the chain, tighten or loosen the adjustment screw.

My Ryobi 40cc chainsaw saw runs strong, but the chain binds and will not turn. The safety break is not engaged and the chain is not tighten to tight. I think it maybe the sprocket but it does not look worn. Has anyone else had this issue?
ANSWER : If your chain has recently jumped off the bar while running, your chain may have “burs” on the drive links (part of the chain that rides in the bar groove). These burs will make the chain rub the inside of the rails and thus bind the chain in the groove. You can file these off with a flat file if there aren’t very many, but you may need to just replace the chain. You can find files, bars, chains & sprockets for your saw at PartsBuggy.com.
