Once running, allow the excavator to run for a few minutes. This gives the machine a chance to warm up and get fluid circulating through each system. In winter weather, I recommend a minimum of five minutes of idle before starting work – longer if it`s extremely cold, but five minutes is a good start point.
On average, a mini excavator will use between 1 and 5 gallons of fuel per hour, depending on the make and model.
1 Gal. Subject to change without notice. Consult your Bobcat Operation & Maintenance Manual. Hydraulic Cap Hydraulic/Hydrostatic Fluid (1 Gal.)*
A high quality, well-maintained mini excavator (aka, compact excavator) has a maximum lifespan of about 10,000 hours. Heavy use and poor maintenance can quickly reduce that to about 8,000 hours.
Give the excavator enough time to warm up and cool down
Once the engine has stabilised, after about five minutes of idling, the operator should start moving the machine slowly to warm up the entire system. The operator can start working at full power as soon as the temperature indicators in the cab reach normal range.
Can an excavator unscrew itself? Simply put, no, an excavator can`t unscrew itself. While it`s an online myth that an excavator will unscrew itself after 16 rotations to the left, this isn`t true. An excavator can`t unscrew itself from the body on which it is built, as they are not built on a screw.
Excavator – 10 to 14 gallons per hour.
On average, an excavator can last between 7,000 and 10,000 hours, providing it has been looked after, not damaged and has had plenty of maintenance. This is just a ballpark, and of course the lifetime hours may differ from brand to brand.
It should be replaced every 1,000 hours or every 12 months or after major repair or contamination. Watch this video to learn how to replace the hydraulic fluid on Bobcat® M, R, & R2-Series compact excavators.
A rule of thumb suggests that the reservoir`s volume should equal three times the rated output of the system`s fixed-displacement pump or mean flow rate of its variable-displacement pump. This means a system using a 5-gpm pump should have a 15-gal.
Mini-excavators typically offer a similar average lifespan of around 10,000 hours. For both excavators and mini-excavators, you`ll want to pay special attention to the undercarriage wear and the condition of the tracks.

How do I change the alternator on a 773 Bobcat diesel?
Steve, read my other answer.
I added diesel to the hydraulic tank in my bobcat and never an it. I drained the tank, refilled it, and now the hydraulic system wont work.
You should use hydraulic oil, not diesel, drain it, refill it and if necessary bleed all the air from the system (some are self bleeding) Dependant on the type of hydraulic system you may have damaged the seals by using diesel oil, that, unfortunately is expensive.
MY PUMP WILL ONLY RUN ON LOW SPEED ( NEUTRAL AND BLACK) . PUMP IS MARKED 230 v , ? DOES THIS RUN ON NEUTRAL TO 120 FOR LOW SPEED AND NEUTRAL TO 120 FOR HIGH SPEED AND USE SEPERATE WINDINGS OR IS HIGH SPEED CONNECTED ACROSS BLACK AND RED. (230v)
If this is 220v then your netural is not a netural but a common. Meaning it is common 110v to both the high and low speeds of pump. The high and low speed are the same leg of the 220v or the other 110v leg they just separate at the clock or high/ low switch. Then yes they run through separate windings for high and low.
If your not getting high speed it could be the high speed winding but be sure to check your switch and high speed lead first before doing anything else.
How do i replace the glow plugs on my 773 bobcat
There a small plug with wire on it right a round injectors. Take 5/16 socket ( i think) screw it out
Bobcat 773 hydraulics stops, then when turn hydraulics back on it works
Test you seat switch, and the pull down lapbar, and it also may have a seatbelt switch.if your driving on alot of bumps and the machine is throwing you around you may be lifting off the seatswitch.
I have a bobcat s175 the bucket will not stay tilted up
it slowly goes back down
Most likely a control valve is leaking. If it just comes down over a long period of time that is not unusual. Most all loader buckets will slowly drop when parked in raised position.
Have 763 bobcat loader keeps locking up with the sencers disengaging have notice the voltage guage going up to 18 volts at same time where should i start looking to fix this
Hello I have a 763 highflow bobcat all gauges read good I lock down the bar and go and it locks up about like the park brake is on but its off I can 10 to 15 foot and bam it locks up if someone has a idea id sure try whatever thanks.
I have a honda fg-100 that the tillers do not rotate. I have taken the tran apart and all the geears look good. So i checked the clutch. I cant tell if the clutch is worn. How thick are the pads suposed to be. The spring holding the clutch p;lates apart seems very strong.
I had the same problem. The gears inside the tiller housing are seized. I had my brother take it apart and that’s what he saw. He cleaned it up really good (which un-seized the gears) then repacked it with some really good grease and slapped it back together. This thing is working like a charm. The repair shop said I’d be better off buying a new one for $300, yeah right..lmao!!
