If a fuse repeatedly blows out, this is a sign of an electrical surge or short somewhere in the electrical system. Finding the exact source of a surge or short location is an investigative process best left to experienced mechanics familiar with these electrical systems.
The most common cause of a blown fuse we see as experienced Electricians in Sheffield is when something draws too much power from the circuit. This is most often caused by either too many lights or from using too many plug-in appliances at once.
The fuse used on most of our riding mowers is a 20 ampere, 12 volt, automotive-type, two-prong, flat-blade fuse ( known as. SAE ATC® style).

When the compressor goes to restart and re-fill the tank, the pressure exerted on the compressor from the tank causes the motor to pull a lot of power to compensate for this. This in turn leads to a blown fuse.
First, and most commonly, when too many lights or plug-in appliances draw power from the circuit, it can overload the capacity of the fuse and cause the metal ribbon inside the fuse to melt through. The result is that all lights, outlets, and appliances powered by the circuit will go dead suddenly.
How do you prevent the fuses from blowing? Start the heater at the lowest setting so the peak power is lower. Purchase a soft starter that lowers peak power. Consult a qualified electrician on whether the fuse in the fuse box can be replaced by a C-type circuit breaker.
A short circuit should always cause a breaker to trip or a fuse to blow and may also cause sparks, popping sounds, or smoke. It may also be caused by issues like loose connections, a slipped wire, or even from damage caused by animals (mice or squirrels) chewing on wires.
Loose, Dirty or Disconnected Spark Plug in Your Lawn Mower: Check it out, clean off debris, re-connect and tighten. Dirty Air Filter: Clean or replace. Fuel Not Reaching the Engine: Tap the side of the carburetor to help the flow of gas. If this doesn`t work, you might need a new fuel filter.

Check your soleniod.
I was mowing just now and my mower just died. i looked at the fuse and the 20 amp was blown. there was some relay beside it and i think it is bad. in the manual there are no electrical maps. any ideas of wat it is? it is a 2007 1042 series
That 20 amp fuse runs the entire electrical system for what it is. Replace it. If it blows again start looking for a shorted wire.
