Cub Cadet

I have a cub cadet 1210 hydro, I just replaced the ignition coil. I had to remove the carb and now that I have put it all back together the throttle is very very high to the point that I have to almost turn the throttle down to turtle speed so it sounds normal again. What am I doing wrong, please help?

Turn the idle screw to adjust the idle—turn the screw to the left to increase the RPM or to the right to lower it. When you have adjusted the idle—aim for 650 RPM—reconnect the idle air adjustment valve`s electrical connection. Lower the hood and turn your car off.
Locate the idle mixture screw and turn it clockwise until the needle lightly touches the seat. Then, turn the screw counterclockwise 1-1/2 turns. If your carburettor has a main jet adjustment screw at the base of the float bowl, turn the screw clockwise until you feel it just touch the seat inside the emulsion tube.
If the motorcycle has a carburettor, the idle speed can be adjusted using the idle screw. If the motorcycle comes with fuel-injection technology, the rider can adjust the idle speed with the small knob that sticks out of the engine compartment on the left or right side of the bike.
Set idle speed adjusting screw, clockwise to increase rpm, counter-clockwise to decrease rpm. Idle rpm range should be 950 to 1050 rpms. Adjust idle mixture by turning idle mixture screw slowly clockwise until the engine runs poorly.
The idle speed screw (arrow 1) is located on the primary linkage. The idle metering adjustment screws (arrow 2) are located on the primary metering block on most Holley carburetors. A typical starting location for these idle mixture screws is between 1 and 1 ½ turns out from fully seated.
The idle speed should feel consistent without skipping or slipping. In most of today`s cars, an idle speed of 600 to 1000 RPMs is average. If your car is idling rough, though, it won`t feel smooth. The RPMs will jump up and down, for example, or they`ll fall below 600 RPM (or whatever is typical for your vehicle).
Typically, engines idle at about 600-800 rpm. Older engines may go up to 1200 rpm or more while warming up. But if the engine is revving up while idling, even after it`s sufficiently warmed up, you might have a problem. High idle speeds waste fuel, cause extra wear and tear on your engine, and can be unsafe as well.
How to fix it? Cleaning or replacing the fuel filter and adding a fuel injector cleaning treatment to the fuel tank should take care of clogged fuel injectors. If the rough idle persists, it`s time to take your car to an auto repair shop.

Idle speed is controlled by using an electronically controlled throttle bypass valve, as seen in Fig. 6.6, which allows air to flow around the throttle plate and produces the same effect as if the throttle had been slightly opened such that sufficient M . a flows to maintain engine operation.

Trimmer takes a long time to warm up. Cuts out when under full trottle and will not idle. Which screws are high and low speed adjust? There are two of them side by side. Do U need a special tool to adjust hi/lo speed screws?
ANSWER : Sounds like the carb needs cleaning, it is staying on choke to long. I would not bother the screws, or either a hose for the gas flow is bad.

The engine idles way too fast and will not correct with the sow speed adjustment
ANSWER : Make sure that you are adjusting the idle speed screw, not the idle jet screw (L). If you are adjusting the proper screw, then it is possible that the throttle trigger assembly in the handle has a load of sawdust/dirt that blocks proper return to idle. Take the handle apart carefully, and make notes on how the parts go back together. Check at the carburetor throttle assembly to make sure the throttle arm returns fully to the idle speed screw when the trigger is pulled and released slowly. Check the throttle spring as well to make sure it is undamaged. Hope this helps!

Member Discussion on Husqvarna 240e Chainsaw Idle Adjustment I have a new 240e and cannot keep it running. It will start, after many pulls, and one of two things happens. After running for 30 seconds, I will tap the trigger to set the idle and it will promptly idle down and die. Or, I do nothing, and it will idle for a bit and die. Restarts are difficult. I did not get a manual with the saw, so all I have to work with is one I downloaded. Idle adjustment is mentioned, but no indication where this adjustment might be. Thanks
ANSWER : Its not an idle screw adjustment issue, it is a mixture screw adjustment issue, unfortunatly there is a special tool to adjust the mixture screws, pt no. 530035560 ( available from Hysqvarna dealers ) once you have this tool you can make an adjustment to the L screw on the carb, undo ( anti clock wise ) this screw ten minutes on a clock face ,this will richen the muxture, and should make it more stable on idle.
