How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?
We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
Spinal decompression works by gently stretching the spine. That changes the force and position of the spine. This change takes pressure off the spinal disks, which are gel-like cushions between the bones in your spine, by creating negative pressure in the disc.
To make starting the STIHL 4-MIX engine easier, the engine has been fitted with a decompression system which extends the valve opening times when starting.
The Decompression lever is designed to help kickstart a motorcycle. On a four stroke bike, when the decompression lever is engaged, it opens the exhaust valve to rotate the engine to top dead center, or TDC.
Automatic Compression Release (ACR) valves reduce the strain of starting your high performance motor by reducing cylinder compression – automatically! The engine is easier to turn over resulting in less wear on your starter and battery. After start, the ACR valves close to restore full compression.
A simple way to check for low compression is to place the chainsaw on the ground and use the starter rope to lift it. Good compression will prevent the rope from pulling out. You should be able to carefully lift the weight of the chainsaw by the starting cord.
A smaller chainsaw will usually have a compression range of between 90 and 110 PSI. A bigger chainsaw will typically have a compression reading closer to 160 PSI. If you get readings too low for an average chainsaw, it might be an indication of a leak of some kind.
What is compression and decompression? Compression reduces the size of an application or document for storage or transmission. Compressed files are smaller, download faster, and easier to transport. Decompression or expansion restores the document or application to its original size.
As an alternative to storing the data as compressed data on the remote node, you can decompress a file during Process execution. This functionality is available between z/OS and any other platform that supports ZLIB compression.
A petrol powered chainsaw has several moving parts. To keep these parts moving, a certain amount of compression is needed. Compression is generated by the engine via the crankcase and the combustion chamber.
The decompressor system reduces cylinder compression at low rpm for easy starting. Decompressor systems are often used with single cylinder four-stroke engines, but manufacturers sometimes utilize these benefits on other engine configurations including V-twins.
A cylinder of a diesel engine that is used to drive a vehicle is decompressed by opening its exhaust valve. When the engine brake of the vehicle is applied a first high pressure fluid is applied to one side of a shuttle valve moving it in one direction and applying the high pressure to open the exhaust valve.
Decompression is controlled by converting the potential energy of the compressed fluid into heat. This is achieved by metering the compressed volume of fluid across an orifice. A simple decompression control circuit, which will eliminate the bang from our garbage compactor, is shown below.

My Husqvarna tractor is 3 years old and now leaking oil from the engine. Is it under warranty or is there any recalls. Thanks, Al Irelan
I have a 257 air injection husqvarna that is leaking gas out of the fuel tank
You might look for a fuel line that is cracked just as it enters the tank. The newer saws I have seen use a fuel line only as a seal, so if it is cracked or hard, it would not seal properly.
What information can you tell me about a Husqvarna chainsaw model 61 with serial number 6136460. Does it indicate the year?
Most of the CDI modules have been superseded to part no# 544018401check with your local dealer to verify.
Husqvarna rancher, leaks oil when saw is off. where rubber hose meets pump, seems to fit together well but still leaks out. drains full tank of oil. any fixes or better parts.
The hose is leaking. You will have to replace the hose. You do not have to disassemble the saw in half as many seem to think. Just some of the parts that are in the way. You can insert a wire and pull the hose out from the oil tank along with the filter. It goes in and you remove only the parts that are in the way where the hose comes out.
Husqvarna 240 want start at all – Husqvarna Chain Saw 18" 450 Model 966955438
Sounds like the ignition module or spark plug. The ignition module is what controls the spark plug that gives your saw the firing capabilities. Before you purchase one of those, replace the spark plug and see if that works. The 240 is a newer husqvarna; so I am skeptical to say it is the ignition module. However, any new product can have a bad part on it. Your saw may have gotten flooded and won’t start. Make sure your gas mixture is 50/50 gas to mixing oil. Always use fresh gas. If you make up gas and don’t use a whole gallon at a time, put some fuel stabilizer in the mixture; so it will still be fresh the next time you use it.
Husqvarna 350 fuel leak looks like it leaks from a connector made into fuel tank
Fuel lines are the cause of most problems with chain saws in my opinion. They will crack when allowed to sit for a long period of time. Some sooner than others. It may very well have a small crack or split where it enters the fuel tank. There is usually two points of entry on these. One is the input to the carb and the other will be a return into the tank. I would recommend replacing all the lines at once.If you have never done it, it can be a daunting task. Most good hardware store carry fuel lines in different sizes also. No need to go the the manufacturer.
Husqvarna 345 leaks (over uses)chain oil – Husqvarna Chain Saw 20" Bar
An IPL (exploded parts list) for your saw can found here:
Serial number decode – for use with IPL
06 = year produced – 2006 (single digit before 2000)
15 = week produced – March
00198 = 198th unit produced by Husky that week
The manual and IPL list no way to change oiler output. Your manual (page 16) says
“If the chain lubrication system is still not working after
carrying out the above checks and associated measures
you should contact your servicing dealer.” HTH
One question – are you using bar oil? It is thicker and stickier than most oils.
We have a husqvarna cth 170 and we cant seem to reverse it… have any ideas on how?
